Scents - Perfumes ggggrrrrrr

Went to a conference today only to have to leave because of all the perfume wearing women.

I long for the smell of 'clean'.

I am so tired of this, there is a huge sign saying Scent Free Zone, you think that my lady gives a damn?

I belong to a group in the east end, the supposed poor part of town and no one ever wears scents. The worst offenders at the conference were the tables from the ritzy areas. Like we are better than everyone else so rules are not for us.

I am angry about the lack of consideration, I think next time I will buy a stink bomb and put it under their table.

I was not the only one with asthma that had to leave, and the city who was running the conference did not want to 'offend' the 'ladies', but it was OK to threaten the health of some of us.

They haven't heard the last of this, we are forming a group.

Now that I have ranted, I feel better. Thanks for listening and I sure hope none of you are so inconsiderate.

I get those instant headaches from some scents. Elevators are the worst!

Guess everyone wants their own Trudashians
Agree about some perfumes, they (and candles) bother me too. I doubt we are going to put the perfume factories out of business any time soon.

I think it's an aging thing.
Scents USED to be pleasant...than not so pleasant...then annoying and then they became PAINFUL.

I am not allergic to the specific scents. I have been a guinea pig in a research lab. What I am allergic to is the chemical fixants and preservatives that are in all scented manufactured products.

They have been found to be endocrine disrupters as well for all people, not just those with allergies. And it isn't just perfume. It's ALL scented, manufactured products including soaps and detergents, fabric softener s, room deodorizers, etc

And as FSG says, scented candles. They can be the worst, though it is the artificially scented ones that bother me.

A woman sat next to me at lunch the other day and I could almost taste the perfume - yuk! The dryer strips are really bad too and I've had to come inside when neighbours have their dryers on. There are signs at the seniors center but some people don't pay attention to them, or maybe their shampoo has a strong smell.

I had to move because of the dryer sheets, it is scents in everything that bother my asthma. I like the smell of a lot of perfumes and aftershave, just my asthma doesn't like it.

I agree about the scented candles being a problem too ..... we have a lot of shops which have those aromatherapy diffusers which I've found to be a bit of a problem.

The absolute worst place I've ever been was at a perfumery in France .... I could barely breathe, and my eyes were streaming ... needless to say we never bought any of their product!

I worked as a liason between my company and a "contract bottler." For two years I spent hours amidst about 30 filling lines for almost anything that could be put into a spray bottle...Lysol, hairspray, floor wax, insecticide (rare, thank god)

My sister wound up with more Estee Lauder Youth Dew than Macy's.

One of the guys gave me a half gallon bottle of Zizanie (like 300 years worth for a regiment.) You know the stuff lasted 40 years without losing strength. I threw the remainder out when we moved.

I hated the anise smell of COTY...who wants to smell like licorice?

You can just imagine how that place smelled. Some of the "mixologists" wore respirators.
When they bottled Chanel #5 there was special security...a hoot.

Youth Dew is the devil's perfume. I get a crashing migraine whenever I'm in contact with anyone wearing it.

A friend gets those scent migraines too. If I am having one, scent goes through my sinus straight to the brain like ice picks but is over as soon as I am out of its range.
