We thought we had found paradise when we moved cross country to Whidbey Island. We knew we lived near a navy air station, but we lived the same distance from a navy air station in the Philadelphia suburbs, and the flights in and out never bothered us much. Thanx to Rick Larsen, our Dem delegate to the USA House of Representatives who has apparently become the darling of the military industrial complex, the navy has over the past year and a half transferred many functions performed elsewhere here, and our few times per month flyovers have become a daily occurrence, for many hours at a time, with decibel levels that audiologists deem dangerous to our health. DH has developed tinnitus. Protests to the navy result in a blank wall statement that the training going on is essential to our national security. See testimony yesterday by one neighbor, a navy wife: http://youtu.be/J9hGunA8w8k Edited by FuzzyO, Jun 21 2013, 11:28 AM.

BJ, For a very long time we had the National Guard from Nigara Falls New York doing fly-overs and military exercises in the air. They would fly over the Niagara (Canadian Side) area be so darn loud not one but several jets throughout the day. It reached a point when it was really disturbing and disruptive. A lot of complaints were issued. The flights were curtailed because they were flying in Canadan air space in doing so disturbing the peace. I didn't mind them though early morning pass overs were definitely a royal pain Maybe FuzzyO remembers them too... |
