.PDD Files

So all of the pictures in various files on my computer 100's of them, were JPEG or JPG's with a very few of them are .bmp from PAINT. (Hate them because they are so big.)

Windows XP opened everything with no difficulty but revisiting them with Windows 7 I see a couple dozen a .PDD which I learned are Adobe Photo Deluxe files which I used in the dark ages...it came with my camera and scanner. I also used Photoshop for a while but haven't reloaded it onto this computer yet. Windows 7 will not open these pictures.

What would you recommend I do to convert them to jpegs or at least OPEN them. If I loaded Photoshop again, do you think that would take care of the problem? I presume Photoshop and PhotoDeluxe are mutually compatible. (I would hate to load that simplistic PD back.)

Lord, I hope that Win 7 is compatible with my old Photoshop...version 6 I believe. I'd hate to have the CD turn into a useless drink coaster.

There are many filetype converter programs available.
This one promised to convert many at a time:
http://www.batchconverter.com/

This one should do it: http://www.imageconverterplus.com/

Someone said this editor will open pdd and save as jpg.

Thanks Delphi...I will choose one.

Seems so strange that Win XP opened all these files without a peep yet Windows 7 is kicking up a fuss.

I am surprised that it was ever supported in Windows. Do you recall how it opened them - windows picture viewer, Internet explorer, or what?

Funny thing Delphi.
I tried again this morning and Windows proffered something like: "Do you want Windows Live (something or other...perhaps Movie Maker or Media Player, it happened so fast, to open these files?)" and voila all the pictures opened.

It never made the offer yesterday? Go figger.

I think back in the days of XP, I defaulted to Windows Media Player to open everything, which it did well...including porn videos. :ciao:

Pretty clever of Microsoft to make it smart enough to look for and install the decoder needed to read those files. Windows actually has amazing backward compatibility. Programs I wrote under windows 95 still run in Windows 8.
