Laptop Battery

Good idea, Daniel. I've heard of people using kid power for television, which nicely limits the time spent watching it as well as making it an exercise activity. Good for video games, too.

My laptop was one of the first ones with Vista so 6 or 7 years old. The battery is still in good shape but I don't use the laptop very much despite it being my newest computer.

Daniel,

Those estimates of the linked devices may be very optimistic. That 300 Watt stationary bike seems to contradict a show I just saw on the Science channel. Expert bikers were sweating blood trying to get a glow out of a 100 Watt bulb.

We visited the Bennett Dam just over in BC where they have a nice visitor center that includes a pedal powered generator . . .

I was able to run the two 60 watt bulbs plus the fan for several minutes - not long enough for a TV show.

An episode of Masterpiece theater would have caused a stroke.

Remember too that a very low voltage and amperage will cause a bulb to glow even if at 1/10 it's rated wattage.

But I'd like to try a machine like that.

I tried putting the laptop battery in the freezer. I'm glad no one saw that (lol). Anyways, it didn't do a thing. I figured I had nothing to lose.
At this time, all three of my 'devices' are almost ready to be tossed. (PC, laptop, and Android pad). I wish I had the nerve to go and buy a new laptop and Ipad by myself. I'm not 'up' on what specs to look for, etc. My kids bought all the ones I have now.

Laptop and Android tablet batteries can be replaced!

As for buying a laptop, just buy the one with the most memory and hard-drive capacity, for the least amount of money.
Don`t worry about the quality, as all the computer parts are made in the same place. ASIA!

Best Buy, Tiger Direct and Future Shop have online stores and if you go to these sites, you can sign up for their weekly flyers.
There have been some good bargains for computers lately, because people are favouring tablets.

Where you able to keep the fan running? Keeping you cool might help you last longer. laugh123

Here's a video on hacking a laptop battery and replacing the cells.

This has to work.

I am going to give it a try and save a few bucks.

I tried that, Campy! I bought some batteries on ebay and installed them in a laptop battery pack. It didn't work - the computer thought no battery was installed. I think some laptop batteries are like inkjet cartridges and have timers or something that make them die. There may even be a reason for that - these Lithium ion batteries can be dangerous.

Anyway, at the prices battdepot charges it probably isn't worth it. I just noticed that I can get my camera battery there for $8. I have never seen one below $50 before. Ordering now!

Don't bother choosing your 4 free magazines; only good in the USA.

I went out yesterday and bought an IPad2 at Best Buy. So far, I've been busy adding apps and trying to get used to it.
A new battery for the lap top costs $65! Seems a lot so I figured to replace it with the Ipad. A new toy!

I bought a Samsung Gallaxy Tab! 10". Its an interesting experience.

The hardest part was figuring out how to cut and paste. Printing to my network printer was also a problem.

I'm not fond of the screen keyboard either. I have fat fingers and hitting the little keys is challenge!

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 7" a couple weeks ago, quite a neat unit, does lots, but isn't without a few issues. I'm on my second 32 Gig micro Sd card, the first one corrupted and I couldn't reformat it, so I took it back and got a new one, also bought a second one with a SD card adapter so I can use it in my PC.. so far so good. Wildie, are you able to go on to the Samsung network to get Apps ? I keep getting a "no network, and can't find your location" message, but am able to access Kies OK. I think the 10" is almost identical to the 7" except for screen size and my keyboard is really a test of the club fingers.
