I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 7" a couple weeks ago, quite a neat unit, does lots, but isn't without a few issues. I'm on my second 32 Gig micro Sd card, the first one corrupted and I couldn't reformat it, so I took it back and got a new one, also bought a second one with a SD card adapter so I can use it in my PC.. so far so good. Wildie, are you able to go on to the Samsung network to get Apps ? I keep getting a "no network, and can't find your location" message, but am able to access Kies OK. I think the 10" is almost identical to the 7" except for screen size and my keyboard is really a test of the club fingers.
I have been able to connect to the Samsung APP site. I just tried it now and was greeted with an update from Samsung! After I received the update, I was able to connect without a problem.

If you continue with a problem, perhaps an uninstall would be in order. I would think that you can get a new copy by using a browser search function.

By the way, I'm using Firefox for Android and am happy with the way it functions. One problem though, is that I would like to edit bookmarks and history and haven't figured out how to do this/

I went out yesterday and bought an IPad2 at Best Buy. So far, I've been busy adding apps and trying to get used to it.
A new battery for the lap top costs $65! Seems a lot so I figured to replace it with the Ipad. A new toy!
I bought a Samsung Gallaxy Tab! 10". Its an interesting experience.

The hardest part was figuring out how to cut and paste. Printing to my network printer was also a problem.

I'm not fond of the screen keyboard either. I have fat fingers and hitting the little keys is challenge!
Give me a quick lesson in cut and paste. I didn't think it was even possible without a mouse.

You can buy the little stylus for the tablets at the dollar store instead of using your fingers.

I did try the uninstall, and reinstall of the new update, but still no go, even tried a couple different wifi sites. Me thinks I might have dig deeper into the issue but it's not a real problem since the google site has much more apps and they are supposedly all virus checked before being allowed on. I have cut and pasted picture files from my tablet to the external SD card, and the same with my bluetooth downloads, but it's a lot easier to just plug it into the computer and then copy and paste as a mass storage device. I also loaded Firefox, and found that if you click the new tab option, you can modify your past history and bookmarks. I'm getting to use the keyboard due to the word suggestions, most times a couple letters and the word pops up. I downloaded the 187 page PDF manual from the Samsung site, lots of good information there.

Campy, on Android tablets if you wish to cut a sentence, you place your finger on the screen at the start of the sentence and hold it there! Arrows with a small box will appear. Remove your finger!
Place your finger on the little box and hold it there. Then drag the box to the end of the sentence. This hilites the text! Tap the text and it is copied to the CLIPBOARD.

To paste from the CLIPBOARD you hold your finger on the spot where you wish to paste and a little menu appears with options. Chose the one that suits you!

THIS IS FROM MY MEMORY AND THERE MAY BE DISCREPANCIES, BUT IT WILL GIVE YOU THE GENERAL
IDEA.

Thanks Fred, I never thought to try the new TABS. I'll check it out!

I like the WORD suggestions as well! Dual purpose, if you will! Saves typing and is a spell checker.

Back to rechargeable batteries.

All the components are still int he battery.

So what is missing that makes it go dead?

I also read an article about 'jump starting' a battery with one of slightly higher voltage just for a second and that's supposed to bring it back.

I haven't tried it yet.

What makes it go dead, according to the theory, is the timer hitting five years or the battery internal resistance exceeding a certain value and the microprocessor in the battery pack suiciding by burning itself out.

According to another article which applies only to Lithium Ion batteries for cell phones.

Leave them plugged in to the charger for 3 days and it's supposed to rejuvenate them so they can hold a charge longer.

You can still make calls and receive calls while it is plugged in.

Careful, Lithium ion batteries are dangerous - they can catch fire and explode. It was in the news a few days ago that a Chinese lady was killed when her iPhone battery exploded. She was charging while talking. Apple says it was not an Apple charger, rather a fake Apple charger cheap and common in China. Genuine chargers are smart; they can tell the state of charge and they stop when the battery is fully charged or not charging safely.

Alkaline batteries can be brought back to life as well but only leave them in the charger for a minute or so.

This applies to batteries that have been packed with the item in shipping and have gone dead after years in storage without being used.

Oi bought a magnifier with two AAA cells wrapped in plastic. After boosing them for one minute they powered the little light inside with no problem.
