Yesterday, while shopping in a supermarket (Loblaws) I noticed an enormous pile of Maple Leaf brand bacon. Maple Leaf Foods is the meat packing conglomerate set up by a branch of the McCain family of potato fame. Closer inspection revealed that the packages were labelled "Product of USA". What's next? Union Jack brand marmite from Bulgaria? |

laugh123 Will go in the freezer to see where my bacon comes from, maybe they are just tourists? Just checked my Maple Leaf Bacon, yep it is from the US. Is nothing sacred? Remove the Maple Leaf, it is deceiving :rules: Put an eagle on it. |

We ship most of our prime pork to China, so it has to come from somewhere? In my area the pork farms are owned the Europeans. They sell to the Chinese who pay in Euros. The pork is gone, the money is gone and we get to spead shit on our fields, where its carried into the water ways! |

Best to buy local from your butcher. I have given up buying the other. I so seldom buy it so figure I can buy the best I can get and really enjoy it. |
