After watching these "GET CASH in minutes loans" on TV, and of course never able to read the fine print associated at the bottom of the advertisment (it is too long and never enough time to read, even if you could) and out of curiosity, I decided to find one of these companies on the net and see what the APR was.

BOY...whoever falls for these scams, should go back to grade two and learn some basic arithmetic.

I copied and paste the APR from one of these sites.....didn't bother to check out the FAQs.

APR Disclosure

APR varies from 546.00 - 600.00% for a 14 day term and is based on province, loan term, loan funding date and other underwriting considerations. For further details on APR, please refer to the FAQs.

And yet, these places do a booming business, as do Casinos where I'll bet a lot of the problems arise.

We have pay day loans here in Edmonton. They now has several locations and probably in other provinces as well. The rates were tremendous for cashing cheques!

We don't have Pay Day Loans here, and as far as I can find out interest rates are about 19.9 - 29.99%.
In the last few years we've had several finance companies collapse to the detriment of many ....

Finance company players' denials say a lot
There are two types of people in this world. Those who take responsibility for their actions and those who believe that the negative events that befall them are never their fault. The latter never acknowledge that the common element in the dramas in their lives is themselves. They are always the victims of someone else's actions. It is never their fault.

This sounds like a right wing rant. It is not. It is the filter through which we should observe the pathetic denouement of the finance company collapses that have plagued our society in recent years. Source Link

Money Mart is owned by Western Union. I had acquired Western Union due to some acquisition of a company I don't even remember. I remember I was in a loss position and decided to dump the stock when it recovered to my break even point. Then I looked at the charts and the financials and started wondering why it seemed to be climbing, so I sold only that portion of my initial investment.

So now I still own Western Union and it's still climbing. Those mafia-like lending rates are making a lot of money for Western Union. Is it any wonder why people are still so heavily in debt while some corporations are reporting record profits as unemployment is still high?

There's no incentive for our governments to implement policies to improve employment when their corporate lobbies are happy due to the profits they are making.

The only thing anyone would need a 14 day loan for is a heroin fix.
