What is it this time? Funny you should ask. Blue has learned how to turn on the faucets in the master bathroom..... Full blast.....nothing short of full blast interests him. Either he does not know how to turn the water off...or turning it off does not interest him. They are lever type faucets and he puts his furry little head under them and lifts his head up....and looks immensely proud of himself when the water flows. We have been keeping a bucket of water in our very large bathtub for the boys as they love playing with water and this gives them an emergency supply for both harmless play, and drinking water should we be delayed getting home, but now they jump up on the counter and play in the sinks, too. I hate shutting the bathroom door whenever we leave the house, but I fear coming home to a flood. Any ideas? Suggestions? |

I leave plastic glasses of water in the bathtub for Buttercup. She enjoys that. Ruckus doesn't bother with that kind of nonsense - he just likes destruction. As for Blue, I think you'll have to change the type of taps you have. He seems endlessly inventive. You are rapidly becoming one of my favourite people. :) |

You know you are half way to teaching him how to FLUSH. (Better, he is half way to teaching himself.) Now all you need is a clogged drain when you are out and you can buy a new house. I think a faucet replacement is going to be necessary, ones that need HANDS to turn them. I know, a pain in the ass, but the risk of an expensive accident is too high. Funny but not so funny laugh123 Thank goodness mine have not discovered that. I recently changed both my bathroom taps to the lever ones as I had trouble opening the others. I would keep the door shut. |

Go under the sink and turn off the shutoff valves supplying the sink. The cat will catch on that nothing happens when he tries to turn it on and will give up. |

She's trying to avoid that...I cannot blame her. Who wants to brush one's teeth at night and then have to climb under the sink...same thing at dawn. Besides those shutoff valves are not made for daily use and will soon spring leaks. I'm thinking some sort of chain, or nylon rope, with a loop to hook the faucet and prevent it's being pushed down??? Or just cover the lever with a bent samovar. :blackbirdyawn: Edited by Trotsky, Aug 18 2013, 04:09 AM.

A few years ago, my cat took a liking to peeing in the bath tub. Some people thought this was a good thing but it was awful. I squirted a little shampoo in the tub (DH's head & shoulders) every day it and it stopped immediately. After a few weeks, I didn't have to do it anymore. Perhaps if you put a squirt of something in the sink? Not sure if it was the smell or the not wanting to get it on her paws that did the trick. |

I'll echo what Agate said "I would keep the door shut." It is an easy habit to get into too. Take care, Pat |

BJ: I am with Ali - a book "Adventures of Blue" would be a big seller. Meanwhile, I am enjoying his antics. |

Perhaps a spring of some kind to close the door automatically? |

I'll bet there is some device available to keep toddlers from turning on the tap. Id look into that, it would prob work for Blue too. Otherwise, change the faucets. |

There should be valves under the sink for each faucet that you can turn off when not home. |
