These are driving me crazy - especially when I can't get to the mute button or to change channels in time.

There are two - woman screaming 'high five' constantly to her kids - and the other one, woman crying because her child is growing up.

Who are Walmart using as their advertising gurus? Jeez.

Me too! They are right up there with the screeching lady on the Ikea commercial about the "steal".
On the other hand there are good ones like Superstore/Loblaw's Joe Fresh ones. I see by the look of their new fall commercials that they are still using the same advertising company.

Has anyone seen the KFC commercial where the guy accuses the employee of hitting on his wife?
It makes my blood run cold as there are men like that.

That Walmart commercial is really bad! I used to like the Staples one "the most wonderful time of the year" with the glum looking kids clinging to the shopping cart.

You know, I NEVER see Walmart commercials and I am DEFINITELY a TV addict.

Maybe they don't advertise much because New York City won't let them in?

Most of you have proven the effectiveness the advertising agencies were looking for. You hate the commercials but most importantly, you remember the brands: Walmart, KFC, Staples, Ikea. They are now burned into your long-term memory.

Nope,
Can you BELIEVE it?
Perhaps the store's predilection for huge parking lots has something to do with it with real estate costs at millions an acre.

Mostly, I just turn off when a commercial comes on, and if someone comments on a certain commercial, I might say that I haven't seen it, even though I might have been staring at the screen.
HOWEVER, I will give Kudos to Canadian Tire for their latest ad. Even though it may benefit them (which is the idea, of course), it sends an important message to families with children as well as to all of us. The idea is to get off our butts and get moving. Put the children back in playgrounds, outdoor games and activities, for fitness and health, instead of being couch potatoes with their IPODs, IPADs, Computer games, etc. -- Great Message!

Imgene: I liked that one too - as much as I ever like commercials. Just because I know the brand doesn't mean that I shop there; I've never been in Staples. Sometimes when they are really bad, I make a point of not buying their products.

When I decided to have one or the other, TV or hi-speed internet and chose hi-speed I lost all those ads and do not miss them at all. With ad blocking online available it is quite peaceful without them.

I still recall a news story (eons ago) when Shell oil condoned the killing of wolves in the north. That was enough for me to never enter their stations again and I still remind people of that one.

The one I do not mind and actually like is the Kraft Singles ad with the little curly, red head boy who is telling the mother what a good job she is doing, ends with a wink and "Keep up the good work."

Take care,
Pat

I don't think I have seen this commercial but I am a sucker for commercials with kids; one of my favorites is AT&T ad campaign, It's Not Complicated.

One of my current favorite commercials is Dos Equis, Most Interesting Man in the Word.

Commercials are why the invented the DVR.
Almost ANYTHING on commercial TV we record first and I just keep pulsing the "skip one minute" button (I have the capability for "Skip 5 minutes" but that is probably overkill...I wish they had a 3 minute option.)

Anything I need to buy, I already have. Everything else I don't want.
We made the decision that we no longer want to drive. Do you have ANY idea how much time the TV stations spend selling cars? Car commercails are like Chinese Water Torture...drip, drip, drip.
We do not want cell phones...there's another 1000 hours a week of commercials.
And then INSURANCE COMPANIES...I don't know what I'd like more to see slowly roasted, the Aflack Goose or the friggen Geico Lizard.

And without a pet, pet food commercials are beyond the pale.

Life is too short for this bullshit.
