A joy to watch this performance.........

Spain

In a tribute to the town of Sabadell, located in Catalonia and just a short distance north of Barcelona, Spain,
the Bank of Sabadell celebrated its 150th anniversary in the most remarkable way:

The "Vallès Symphony Orchestra", "Chamber Song Choir", "Friends of The Opera" and the "Choral Belles Arts" showed up
at the town square of Sabadell for an uplifting performance of the "Ode to Joy" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

For their 130th anniversary, Spanish finance group BancSabadell commissioned a symphony orchestra flash mob at a city square in Sabadell, Spain.
The Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the choirs of Lieder, Friends of l’Opera and the Choral Belles Arts performed beautifully in this video

This outstanding performance by a Symphony orchestra is a great example of people uniting in service to their community

if you play an instrurment consider uniting with with fellow artists once or twice a month
to send out healing vibrations to your community. Get creative, and remember it’s also great exposure…

Enjoy the magnificent performance of Beethoven's masterpiece, as well as the positive reactions from the town's bypassers.

Truly inspiring!

I was all set to hate this because I have heard too many desecrations of the most beautiful piece of music ever written. But it was quite lovely.
Althouugh I think for the future, a minimum sized orchestra of 100 pieces should be required for the Ninth...and of course, a chorus of MILLIONEN.

(I never heard it sung in Spanish before, a lot better than English, but nothing beats the old "Freude, schöner Götterfunken
Tochter aus Elysium."

And sadly they lieft out the soloists including the wonderful BASSO opening:
"O Freunde, nicht diese Töne!
Sondern laßt uns angenehmere anstimmen,
und freudenvollere.
Freude!

Nobody should DARE to truncate this piece of music...under pain of being garroted with a violin string.

For me the ENTIRE Beetoven's Ninth, the only way to listen to it is, is reserved for my darkest moments when I need to wrenched from the cares of the world. I shut off the phones, the lights, lie comfortably and listen...LOUD. I usually end in a sobbing but always cathartic crescendo screaming along with the chorus. The first time I heard it at about 16, I think, I could hardly breathe when it was over. I just could not believe a human could COMPOSE that.

Very enlightening, fits right in with the piece, OTT and pretentious.
As an inpromtu snippet....excellent and worthy of time spent, but like chocolate, one should not go to a darkened room, lie down and gorge one's self!
