Kiwi chick Beau delivers under pressure Posted Image MIRACLE KIWI: Beau the baby kiwi hatched at Rotorua’s Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park against all odds. A Taranaki kiwi chick that defied the odds has been named after another plucky Taranakian, All Black Beauden Barrett. The egg was an accidental find by East Taranaki Environment Trust (ETET) kiwi trackers during an expedition in June to locate kiwi and fit them with transmitting devices. Fearing that its parent would reject the egg because it had been touched by humans, it was carefully carried out of the bush and sent to Rotorua's Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park for incubating. Beau hatched on the weekend Barrett scored his glorious try in the final minutes of the All Blacks' test against France in New Plymouth. Barrett said it was pretty cool to have a kiwi named after him. "I don't know of any other animals named after me." Source link Posted Image Beauden Barrett Edited by Kahu, Sep 11 2013, 10:25 AM.
