Windows XP Compaq mini dv I had to restore back to August 31st the other day using Roxio BackOn Track. Everything now works fine except I keep getting a popup message saying system may not restore safely because System Restore will interfere with Roxio BackOn Track. I've continuously clicked on the "De-activate System Restore" button with the result "De-Activation Successful" window. But the warning message keeps popping up. I opened System Restore and saw that restore had been turned off. How do I stop the warning message? How can I be sure Roxio BackOn Track will continue to set scheduled restore points? I never heard of Roxio Back on track. What does it do that Windows restore doesn't? |

I would unstall the Roxio program and then Ccleaner to clean up the registry. Then shut the machine down, reboot and see if all is well. If so, reinstall Roxio. |

It was Roxio that restored my computer. When I checked System Restore, it didn't have any restore points. |

Is it possible that Roxio turned off Systen Restore in order to avoid a conflict, as it seems that they both are performing similar operations. I, like Delphi am unfamiliar with this Roxio program. Where did you get it? Perhaps it came with the computer? |

I just Googled 'Roxio Back on track' and on Yahoo I found this comment! Roxio BackOnTrack is the complete media protection solution that automatically keeps your irreplaceable memories safe and protects your PC from both hardware and software disasters. And no, it is not important unless you have irreplaceable files on your computer and if you do have those files on your comp then just back them up on a CD or DVD with your burner (assuming you have one) and if you don't have a burner then there are plenty of online file backup websites (mozy, carbonite, ect..) that work a lot better than Roxio's crap. |

The basic Roxio suite of backup and burning programs was included with my Vista desktop, I used the data burning portion to burn media such as DVDs but that's about it. It worked OK once you figured it out, but IMO wasn't very user friendly. That was about 6 years ago, and have since upgraded the PC to Windows 8, so all the Vista programs are history. |

I keep all my important files and documents, including e-mails in thunderbird and firefox bookmarks in an SD micro card so if my computer crashes and loses everything, all I would need is to re-install my applications. Of course it must have been Roxio that shut off the Windows XP System Restore. And since the pop up message, I clicked to also have XP System Restore de-activated. My problem is that the pop up message keeps popping up. I only have the basic Roxio BackOn Track that came with the computer. It served the purpose and I don't intend to install any fully loaded versions. |
