I've been a Shaw Customer for years.Yesterday I inquired into getting Wifi through them. I have a cheap Router but it's not working well. Today I received an Email reply that they will send me a Cisco DPC3825 modem with Wifi network and password Free of Charge. This probably means that newer customer have been getting this modem and enjoying Wifi for some time. I want to give a heads up to any Shaw customers out there who may not have this updated modem and could make use of it. |

I make a habit of checking on line for any provider I have every couple of weeks to see what they are offering new customers. If I want it I just phone them and when they say it is only for new customers I tell them that I should be treated better than new customers because I have been around for a long time paying my bill. I have always received what I wanted. OO you are right, they give stuff as a come-on for new customers and ignore the faithful ones. Really irks me. |

I always check each month on Shaw for free channels on their cable t.v. They usually offer two each month free of charge. This is if you have only Basic Channels. October. I have Channel 139 DEJA reruns of old shows like All in the Family, Golden Girls, etc.5 157 BTN; College sports. Football, volleyball. Your channel number may be different in your area. |

Those free combo modem/routers are not a big gift. I suspect they cram too much in one little box and it gets too hot. I have had much better service from a $29 wifi router from DLink plugged into the combo.

I rent a Bell router/modem DSL combo that has worked well for several years. However, it uses an external power supply cord that produces 18 volts D.C. It has built in themal over-load that resets itself. My DSL would randomly fail and I spent a lot of time trying to resolve it and finally I called BELL tech support for assistance. They quicly realized it was a power problem and directed me to get a new one at the Bell store. It must be a common problem, as the store had whole drawer full of these that they were passing out at no charge! |
