Since I got this new computer and Windows 8 my wife has left, my dog is afraid of me and the paper boy won't come on the property. I finally got Open Office installed. This morning I found out I can't get sound on my you tube videos. All other sound is OK. Any suggestions? ( I don't get my garbage picked up until Thursday!) Thanks again.

Wildie: Thanks for the Hanselman video, it is a big help. Now if I give up golf, volunteering, travel , reading, sleep and music and spend that time learning Windows 8 I'll become an expert on it. Anyway I'm not going to let this cruel little box beat me. No way. Thanks to all for your valuable help.

Maybe your wife will return in time for you to embark on Win9!

The video is well done and as DT say's its a reminder for us experienced users as well!

When searching for a program all you have to do is search for *.exe files.

All the programs on your computer with that extension will show up.

In Win8, which 'dogleg' has all you need do is place the mouse at a blank spot on the tile (START)screen and start typing what you are looking for!

This is one of the improvements that WIN8 offers!

On my mine, any key touched wakes it up! I believe that its optional and may be set by clicking the POWER icon in CONTROL PANEL,

Open the control panel, user accounts, make changes to my account. If you're the only one using your PC, you can remove the password to logon completely.

For wakeup, go to the control panel, power options, on the top left you'll see "require a password on wakeup"

Edited to say (oops, looks like Wildie beat me again laugh123 )

Thank you again. Seems to work fine. On coming back from hibernate it returns to the last page used prior to going into hibernate. I presume that is normal. Now onto the next little nightmare! I continue to get messages saying there is a problem with internet explorer and it needs to shut down. However the computer keeps on ticking as I assume it is using my other browser like yahoo. How do I put this out of its misery? Thanks again. Maybe by Christmas I can get back to a normal life. How I pine and yearn to have my old XP back in my bed!!!
