No sound on You Tube videos unless I slide the volume button. BUT it doesn't remember, so next time it's the same thing. PIA
I was trying everything including backing up the computer to last month.

And then I found THIS on a Google chat board:

Quote:

I need to move the volume slider to play audio on all YouTube videos. All browsers are affected. This started this afternoon, Oct 3, 2013.

OMG Trotsky ..... That is exactly what has been happening to me for the past two days, and I play so many on You Tube. I know it is not the sound that is not working on the computer as if I shut down and restart I get the startup sound. But how can I slide the volume any higher than the top of the scale?

You know how misery loves company. I feel better knowing I am not the only one so deprived.

Take care,
Pat

I've had the sound issue on several Youtube vids. It's a Youtube problem they are working on.

I just wish I had known that it was a you-tube problem BEFORE I started fiddling with Flash settings, Google settings, System Restore and the like. I'd have just waited it out.
I might have done some damage that will rear it's ugly head down the road.

I'm talking about the tiny slider on each you-tube video at the bottom left of each video. Once set it will stay until you leave you tube but then when you re-visit you tube, POOF, back to zero.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Trotsky. Now I am back in business. I don't even care if I have to adjust it for each song ..... at least I can hear the music. Am listening to Timothy B. Schmit now singing I Can't Tell you Why, and I am one happy camper. biggrin 04

Take care,
Pat

Thanks everyone.

Goldengal...
I FIXED IT.

Go here:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html

Now there is an image that looks like it is for illustration BUT it is the real setting for your Flash.
Click the "Allow third party flash content." And make sure the slider is not set at zero...somewhere in the middle is good.
Then REBOOT.

And try a you-tube. If still no volume, slide the volume to where you want it and REBOOT again.
Should work now, forever remembering your setting.

(If it doesn't work, let me know...I have one more trick up my sleeve.)

Thanks Trotsky. Actually, "Click Allow 3rd Party Flash Content" was already marked so I just rebooted, and volume is great now.

Take care,
Pat
