electric stove

I should replace my 30 inch electric stove one of these days and am not sure whether to get the glass topped one or stick to the old style burners. Some people like the glass tops and others find them hard to clean. I just want a basic stove with a self-cleaning oven and like dealing with the rep. at Sears, though Sears sounds kind of shaky these days. Any advice?

I would change my refrigerator and all lighting as well if it were reasonable.

You can still get gas refrigeration and air conditioning, but I double that gas lighting is practical anymore and I KNOW a gas TV and a gas computer would be iffy at best. unsure112

But hey, how about a gas generator to make your own electricity to run the house? And with co-generation, the "waste" heat could heat your house and your water.
I think I would honestly give it a shot if I lived in a stand-alone house instead of a co-op apartment. Our electricity is up to $.29 per Kwhr...can you believe?

I have a Coleman camping generator that I used during my trailer days! It runs on gasoline, but I have found that I can buy a conversion kit to allow it to run on natural gas!

With a 50% increase in electrical rates on the horizon, perhaps its time to do this!

Having witnessed a house gas explosion and being a victim of inefficient inspectors from companies who furnish the fuel, I wonder why I feel a lot safer with hydro. There is a lot to be said for safety first.
