PBS is fundraising again and ran The Texas Tenors last night. I'd never heard of them but they were really good. I'm sure they will re-run that show a lot so anyone who likes good singing should tune in.

Thanks for the heads-up, I will look for the rerun. Strange being from Texas that I have never heard of them.

They sang a country song first and then went right into a different country - Italy - with opera selections! They all had great personalities too.

We did PAVAROTTI for the PBS pledging last night. I guess they keep it area specific. Needless to say Pavarotti's voice was one of the highlights of my lifetime. I saw him when he was the "kid singing with Sutherland."

They were on TV last night They were nice to look at had good voices but their operatic renditions were better left alone except the fellow with the deeper tenor voice/ Their enunciation left a lot to be desired and singing opera with a Texas accent sorry Bitsy meaning no disrespect just didn't sound right...I ended up changing the channel to watch the Jerry Lee Lewis story...

I sometimes think that PBS just invents these groups 4 times a year.

In Spring it will be the MONTANA METTZOS and in Summer the ATLANTA ALTOS.

I think they came from one of those contests they have on TV but I enjoyed them anyway. The one guy's voice reminded me of Mario Lanza if anyone remembers him in the Great Caruso. The only songs I didn't care for were the modern pop ones that all sound the same to me. If you're very serious about classical music they might not be for you but I thought they were fun.
