scent free detergent

I used Sunlight scent free detergent for ages and now I can't find it in any of the stores. Does anyone know who sells it these days, or has it been discontinued? Is there another scent free brand except for Tide (I'm allergic to Tide)? I used Amway for years until they changed the formula and had to stop using that one. I'm now using baby detergent but have to use a double rinse to cut down the perfume smell.

Paula...I did not know there was a difference between unscented and fragrance free. What is the difference. I am extremely chemically sensitive and cannot tolerate perfumes in anything.

Trotsky.....we have always used Arm and Hammer and been satisfied. For clothing we have worn outside of our own property, I do add a scoop of Oxyclean because it removes any scents that may have attached to our clothing.

Yes unfortunately many people think someone is strange if they're allergic to artificial fragrances. I got in trouble at another forum for bringing this topic up so I'd (gosh) better play it safe BUT there are many, many, many toxic chemicals in fragrances.

Gee, I wonder why our own medical centre here went scent free thankyousign.gif
My husband gets burning lips & throat. Multiple chemical sensitivity is a very real concern, it's not just in someone's head.

Anyway, I feel for you!

Thanx Paula, but what is the difference you mentioned between "unscented" and "fragrance free"?

I thought they were the same. You won't get in trouble here. The site owner has known me for many years and completely understands my chemical sensitivity.

Hello, I hope I do this right but try these 2 links www.seedpowerbodycare.com/unscented
& www.nonscents.net/unscented
When my husband & I go out & come home, we reek of everyone else (oops, now I'm in trouble).
We put our clothes outside to air out & I usually wash my hair quickly.

We've been cleaning only with non fragranced dish soap, vinegar, baking soda, fragrance free shampoo & soap for years & boy do we notice *us* when we get home! We never use chemicals around the animals. Animals have extremely sensitive respiratory systems, especially the types in our sanctuary.

I'm outta this area now, sorry, not coming back to this topic as I got in a couple of big arguments with people at another Over 50's forum, hee hee. If you want to PM me, that's fine, thanks.

We had almost 50 degrees today and even with both radiators turned off we still had to open a window. Our laundry room is 150 feet down but STILL in came the smell of the poisoned dryer sheets and I got a splitting headache.
To get rid of it I needed to get out of the house.

You know what they most smell like to me? The disinfectant they use on an apartment when a body is removed after a couple weeks of decay.
It is not just the smell, I had to move because of dryer sheets. I was itching constantly and finally found a place where they put in a new washer and dryer. I also had headaches.

That stuff clings to the walls of the dryer and if you use the dryer afterwards the residue gets on your sheets and clothing.

Since I moved here I finally can sleep at night and do not itch or have rashes.

I am almost afraid to say this, but nothing bothers me whether it be scents, animals or food. Is there something wrong with me? (ok be kind now)

Take care,
Pat

Nothing bothered me either until about 12 or so years ago. I was told by the allergist that my white cells are particularly active, whatever that means.

Darcie...I told you many times to Google mastocytosis. Your symptoms and onset are almost identical to mine.

I forgot to write it down, now you wrote the name again, thanks. This time it is in my book.

Some scents give me headaches, instant painful headaches. I am so glad that most people are more careful these days, it used to be awful getting into an elevator with someone wearing perfume.

BJ, I have all the symptoms there, also am already on leukoriene suppressants, and now that my blood pressure is dropping on and off I guess I better look into the epinephrine.

Reading about the treatments I am now see that the specialist in Montreal probably was onto what was happening to me and I guess that is why I am as well as I am with the course of medication he gave me. He did not tell me the name of what I had. I now understand the questions that my doctor there had every time I saw him, and he insisted on every three months or if anything was different.

I did not have the severe drops of BP until about one year ago. My doc is very young and I guess I will have to do some educating.

Thank you for reminding me, I now have a course of action on the BP drops to pursue.

Darcie, I carry epi pens with me at all times, but have yet to use one. My blood pressure drops are usually pretty sudden, but then it goes back up again. Taking epi if your blood pressure is rising is also dangerous. You should clarify when to use it with your doctor.

I actually almost used it two weeks ago in California when my throat closed up, but fortunately a megadose of Benadryl kept me breathing, but after two weeks my throat is still sore from the swelling. Those damn golf course lawn chems do me in every time. We have pretty much decided not to go back there.

I have an epi pen as well (it is stale dated oooh 02 ) I have had one for a long time, because of allergies I thought, or maybe it is. ???

I have a bit of an information overload about this right now, will have to let it settle to see what questions arise.

I hate it when my neighbours do laundry and the scent of the dryer sheets is very pervasive. I have to keep the door and windows shut as I can feel my throat get tight. Between that and their constant smoking, I don't get to open the windows very often except when they're away.
