I guess Red and Blue needed something new to climb. What the heck do we do with these guys? This WAS a very neatly arranged walk in closet. Posted Image |

Looks like you've got double trouble. :happens: Maybe give them some catnip. It might make them woozy enough that they would just stay rolling on the floor! |

I could give you my honest opinion / feedback, but it might not be pretty or popular. You have to ask yourself, just how much more of these demon incarnates you are going to put up with. I've got a permanent scar on my wrist from the shelter dog we adopted last year, our decision to deal with the matter was heart breaking, but absolutely necessary. |

I do believe they need a nice barn with lots of mice to chase and poles holding up a hayloft that they can run up, down, sideways. |

Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind, DT, but we just could not do that. And they have been indoor cats for over a year. They were abandoned as newborns, found in a trash can and raised in a shelter setting. They have no skills to survive as outdoor kitties. But we really are at our wit'a end. One of the errands we ran this morning was to pick up some tranquilizers from the vet to give them in the RV, but I think I better give them to DH. |

Try the catnip. Worked with my two. Take it easy on it though else they'll end up like the whirling dervishes and you've had it enough of that |

I'd be threatening them with strong thoughts of a new pair of slippers. I once had to diss a cat, Sylvia, for bringing a half dead snake into the house. That was the last thing I wanted to find anywhere inside! I reamed Sylvia out, verbally, telling her things about how low it was to go after the legless creatures etc etc, how low can you go? Whether she felt my disgust directed so strongly toward her or not who can say? But, she never did that again and I think that she gave up on snakes altogether after that. So, do try giving them a heartfelt stern talking to. 102 Some people believe that animals have a degree of ESp. Try visualizing a pair of slippers made of fluff that is identical to their coats. I do empathize with you, bj. I, like you, believe that we have a responsibility to the animals we shelter. In regard to behaviour, at this point, trying to keep Ruckus from driving my Butter into senile dementia, I ... spray him with water when he misbehaves, shut him in the basement and keep feli way diffusers on every room he stays in. It isn't perfect but it's better than it has been. Have you tried the feli way diffusers and the spray. It does have an effect but it is subtle. It's like having a child with ADHD or some other malady. You've just got to keep trying. |

How well do you hiss? A good hiss is very effective. Mind you that doesn't help if you are not present. |

Collect some cardboard cartons of various sizes and construct a cat playhouse. Use lots of duct tape to hold things together. Posted Image https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI9W_VdV1l0 Posted Image |

Well, we have the closet back together. John is asleep with Red and Blue is asleep near me. They have so many toys, if I pack all their stuff in the RV there won't be any room for us! Helen, tried catnip. Made them even more hyper. I have the tranquilizers the vet gave us, and I bough Feliway spray, Angora. The diffuser didn't do any good, but maybe the spray will help. Of course, that was one of the errands I was running this morning while they were destroying my closet. |

I would suggest that you would hire a decent carpenter to re-hang your shelving! There is no way a cat should be able to pull down shelving! |

Wildie ..... You took the words out of my mouth. I had to go and check my walkin closet, and the shelving is screwed into the wall at both ends. If I could lift Montana (60 lbs.) up onto one, the shelf would not budge as it is that secure. BJ .... You might have to do as my friend at the lake does, and make sure all doors are kept closed to rooms you do not want Red and Blue in. Do they have a cat tree with a scratch area and toys hanging from it? And I bought a plastic tunnel from Dollarama for $3 for Mitsy. Saw it at my friend's and one cat was lying it in when another one came along and chased it out. Take care, Pat |

Pat, the problem wasn't just the 25 pounds of cat. The problem is I never stay the same size for more than 6 months, so have 5 complete wardrobes hanging in there, one for each size. Of course we have a cat tree and also one of those tunnels. Our house looks like a feline gymnasium. And are they playing in the gym now? Of course not. Red is asleep on our bed and Blue is purring on my lap. |
