What do we do now?

What I was endeavouring to say BJ is that my system is so securely built that nothing could move it. It is a permanent fixture, and actually both sides of the wire shelving are adjacent to a central wooden unit with six large wooden shelves, and are screwed into the wall on one end and the wooden side of the shelving on the other, and I have scads and scads of clothes. I have just now tried to shake anything, and there is no way I can make anything budge.

Take care,
Pat

Not to absolve the adorable critters, but I have never put up a shelf that anything smaller than a Siberian Tiger could tear down.

Do you have two very small Siberian tigers and five complete wardrobes hanging from your shelf?

What I am not seeing in your unit BJ is any type of anchor/brace at each side of the shelves and hanging area. Mine has a 3"x1" brace at both ends of each appliance into which the two screws are placed. Unfortunately, I do not take pictures so you'll just have to try and visualize it. In other words, there is not much that could knock these suckers down. My closet is 10 ft. x 4' and a bit so I have lots of room.

One good thing that happened with me measuring my closet just now is that I found two small shelves hidden in behind a section of hanging clothes, and a gorgeous denim blue bulky cardigan which Dana knit for me a few years ago. I had totally forgotten about it, and since we are leaving for Cancun in a few days, it will work well as my travel coat after a good wash. Feel like I won something. biggrin 04

Take care,
Pat

Then your enemy is not your cats but the boob who installed the shelves.
(We have a couple of extensive discussions on how to do it right on the HOME IMPROVEMENT thread. My current exploration is hanging a 46 inch TV securely with a little extra support in case two Siberian tigers jump on it.)

Enjoy the nice vacation Pat.

I know that the problem is not your closet. It is a much bigger problem than something so easily fixed. I see you are at your wits end. I don't know what I would try next except a Cat Whisperer. I am not being funny here. I think you might be at that point. I don't know if I believe in this for cats but, if I was in your situation I would give it a try. Good luck whatever you do.

BJ dogs can be as bad, look at this for an example of problem solving:

That was one determined pooch, and had everything figured out.

Savannah, the Leonberger, cost Kim a fortune in her first couple of years with many many expensive boots being chewed, and some not even worn. I kept telling her to put them away as she was only setting Savannah up to get in trouble, but my words fell on deaf ears.

On the Bernese Mountain and Leonberger boards I belong to I often read of those that take food from the kitchen counters as they are tall enough to just stand and reach whatever is there. And I recall reading about one much the same as one mentioned in the Comments following the video that ate the roast for the meal when company was there, and the people ended up taking their guests out to dinner.

Take care,
Pat

My usually well behaved collie jumped on a chair and then quietly lay on the table eating a turkey my sister had cooked two days before my daughter's wedding. We went out also.

She had never done anything like that before or afterwards.

I think we forget that somewhere in the genetic makeup of these supposed tame pets are wild animals.

I think that bj's cats are the cat pinnacle for mischievous behaviour. Ive had lots of cats and some pretty saucy ones but I think bj has the cream of the crop.

BJ, do Red and Blue know that travel is coming up? Or anything else that may cause a commotion to their routine.
I discovered that Mozzy gets quite upset whenever he senses that I am going away, which does occur with some regularity. As he gets older he is less willing to 'allow' any change. Considering he was born in Nanning, China and now lives in Sooke one would think he could adjust quickly. His latest gig is to become ill, the stage just prior to a UTI.
He does have lots to do in the house for entertainment and it sounds like Red and Blue do too - a case of double the fun double the trouble?

We had a cat, who upon seeing a suitcase that was on the bed and unzipped, would pee in it and anything already packed. We quickly learned NOT to leave suitcases on the bed.

The boys have been in the RV twice. Once it was simply parked not moving, and we put them in there to "get used to it." That was when Red climbed into the slide and we couldn't get him for a couple of hours out without killing him until HE was ready to come out and chase the laser dot.

The second time was our 14 minute vacation when the RV broke down 14 minurtes from home.

So I don't think they have enough experience yet to know that we will be traveling.

Does Cesar Milan do cats?

BJ,
I think with male cats, the first 5 years are the hardest.
