Is anyone watching this year? I was away so missed the two tryouts last week, but did watch this week, and there are some very good contestants. Perhaps a lot of people do not watch until the final contestants have been chosen, but the viewing audience is down, I do think the makeup of the judges this season is much much better than the fiasco last year with Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. This year the judges are returning Keith Urban along with J Lo and Harry Connick Jr., and they seem to have much the same camaraderie the mentors have on The Voice. From info I have received, J Lo's salary is $17.5 mil, and the two guys earn $5 mil each. Many I know do not care for The Voice which is now my fav music reality show. It is scheduled to begin Mon., Feb. 24, and this season Usher and Shakira will replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, Also, from info I have received, the return of XFactor USA remains uncertain. No wonder as I read today that Simon Cowell was paid $95 mil. Take care, Pat |

Thanks Bitsy. Sorry I did not look more closely to see there was a thread already. It definitely is a much better mix this season. Take care, Pat |

Loved Harry Connick Jr. as a mentor and now even better as a judge. The three of them seem to have a great rapport. It looks like a good season and in the auditions they aren't even showing the "dogs" that they usually film. |

Yes, Lilal ....it makes such a difference when we do not have to listen to the ones who had to be dreamers to even put themselves out there. oooh 02 Take care, Pat |

It surprises me that Connick did not get as famous as many of his peers. He had the looks and the voice and while he is known by many, he didn't seem to attain super star status. The three judges complement each other so well. I am so glad to see American Idol re-invented. Last year was unwatchable. Even Cowell of a few years ago seems so yesterday with the snark and superior attitude. Paula was sweet but out to lunch much of the time. |

Tonight is the Finale, and it sounds like one great show. The two finalists are Caleb Johnson (3rd time try out for AI) who is a hard rocker and Jena Irene who truly could sing the phone book as she is so versatile. I'll be happy no matter which one wins, but am leaning in the direction of Caleb. Is anyone else watching, and if so, who is your money on? Take care, Pat |

I think Caleb won the night but I am hoping for a Jena win. I won't shed any tears regardless of who wins. |

I'm hoping that Jena wins but age-wise Caleb is probably more ready to handle what the career brings. I surely do hope that all three judges return next season as they have been the best ever. |

What a culmination of all 3 shows .... AI, DWTS and The Voice this week. And my fav won on all 3 shows as I am sure they did for so many. I cannot believe Tuesday evening I abandoned the finale of The Voice so I could watch DWTS yet I had not missed it all season. The winner Josh Kaufman (38) was the contestant I hoped would win, and I have heard that coach Adam Levine will sign runner up Christina Grimmie (18); no doubt Blake Shelton will take Jake Worthington (18) under his wing. The camaraderie of the coaches on The Voice is similar to what we have seen with the judges on AI this year, and I have wondered if that was what Simon Fuller was striving for with AI this year. I agree with Lilal that it was the best judging team if not ever in a long time on that show. Tuesday evening America's Got Talent begins and I think Wednesday sees So You Think You Can Dance return as well. Happy viewing and listening. Take care, Pat |

I think both finalists were outstanding but it's nice to see a rocker win for a change. If they ever film the life story of Meat Loaf, Caleb would be great in the role for his younger years. I would love to hear him sing By the Dashboard Lights. |
