There is a certain element that complains non stop about government having its hand in our pocket. But I hear next to nothing about the greedy bastards who run monopolies or near monopolies in Canada. After more than four decades as a customer, I finally booted Bell out of my life. They were charging me, with tax, about $272 a month for a land line, satellite tv and internet service. And their service sucked. I paid them in full, and got an additional bill for $192 for what they described as cancellation fees, or something similar. I paid. Yesterday I got another statement, saying I had a credit of $80 something dollars. A credit to be applied to what? I'm not a customer, and they know that. Bell was counting on me not bothering to pursue them for the credit amount. When i did, they told me it would take four to six weeks to issue a cheque. It's not just Bell. Rogers and other telcoms are, from what I have heard, just as bad or worse. Hydro One is being investigated for gouging customers. And don't get me started about Direct Energy. Even the most rapacious governments in this country are benign by comparison. There are days I feel some kinship with the survivalists who are building their little off grid hidey holes in Montana and places like that. But if I did it, the corporations, not the guvmint, would have driven me to it. |

I'm of a similar mind, especially with Bell, who I went to because of Rogers. I want a place with no snow, my loved ones nearby and the Internet and my cell phone. |

I want a place with no snow, my loved ones nearby and the Internet and my cell phone. Can you persuade your loved ones to move to Mexico or Ecuador? |

The thing about government in all this is that they set the rules. If some of the stunts pulled by corps were illegal things might change. |

If some of the stunts pulled by corps were illegal things might change. But they're not illegal. I am certain that these companies run all of their stunts past lawyers before they use them to gouge customers. And if governments outlawed these stunts, they would dream up other ones. |

I am being screwed over by CapitalONE Bank. I almost pulled my money when the f*cked up a 1099 two years ago but I didn't and now this is even WORSE. Lesson learned, if I EVER get this mess straightened out they will see the end of me for all time. |
