I use about three blenders each summer when juicing produce. They simply break or quit working. I have been getting them replaced under warranty, which is an annoyance. http://www.durgan.org/URL/?SMCAV CUISINART Smart Stick Hand Blender with Whisk And Chopper Attachment I decided to get a better one. This is what I chose Bamix. Very expensive but has good reviews. http://www.durgan.org/URL/?ZJJQG Bamix - GL200 White Gastro Professional Pro-3 Immersion Blender Set - OBR-57106035 Anybody have experience with this product? |

Just reading about your blenders always having to be replaced and under warranty Durgan, makes me realize you obviously use your blender much more often and longer than most do. I see that the link you provided is also for a commercial blender which is more suited to your use. I have an Osterizer which I purchased in the 60s, and it is still going strong. I think there is one speed out of 10 that no longer works. Take care, Pat |

I wonder if a food processor would suit you better? |

The hand held unit simplifies preparation, since there is no handling material from pot to pot. In fact, I seldom use the stand blender, since the hand held does the same thing with less hassle. The cheaper models around $20.00 quit or break. This one works well but can't stand up to heavy use http://www.durgan.org/URL/?SMCAV CUISINART Smart Stick Hand Blender with Whisk And Chopper Attachment I hate to pay the high price, but it might be worth the expense in the long run. |

Sometimes a high price and name recognition does not equal quality and reliability. I found that out the hard way with a $120 Waring Blender that is good for schytte...it now sounds like a freight train and pieces of black plastic shoot out the motor housing. The overload fuse blew and I short circuited across it for more life. I presume it will blow in a cacophony of fireworks soon. On top of it all, it blends poorly and starts only at high speed and thus can never be operated without the lid. The only thing that can be said for the piece of junk is that it is nice looking. Every $29 blender I have ever owned has been better but I fell for Consumer Reports BEST rating...I no longer trust them. Geez, I haven't used my "wand" blender in a long time...at least 3 years since I moved. I used to use it to puree 4 gallons of soup, especially vichyssoise (sp?) at a time but without a freezer I can't cook in those quantites anymore. It was a no-brand for about $20 and performs well but I don't do the type of intensive work that Durgan does. How's this 4 gallon baby: Posted Image Edited by Trotsky, Feb 17 2014, 04:52 AM.

Actually the counter top blenders are excellent now and cheap. I have an Oster 11 speed buttons and it is marvelous. Didn't pay big money for it. I went through many before buying this one. I had one made in China which also lasted a long time for 15.00. Usually the coupling fails. I might add yours looks like it came from outer space. |

Durgan, The baby I pictured was a recommendation for you considereing your high volume work and it's, are you sitting, $2499. No my terrible Waring Blender looks like this exceot the motor housing is a little bigger and shiny chrome: Posted Image It has 2 speeds: HIGH and BLOW THE TOP OFF AND SHOOT MILK SHAKE ONTO CEILING. One tip I have learned from experience, a square blender carafe is far better than a roundish one because a round one allows for too much round and round swirling whereas a square one keeps knocking solids, like ice cubes or food chunks back into the blades. In college I had a square no-name for $14.99 and I could incinerate ice into an ethanol (stolen from chem lab) sour frappe' in just moments. I carried it back and forth to our Jersey Shore Summer rental every weekend for several years after college in my little red sports car. It ran nonstop feeding drinks to an average of a dozen people all weekend. Driving home with the top down, natch, the goddamned blender lid blew away. :crying: When Mr. Waring croaks in a couple weeks I have my eye on a SEARS model that is claimed at 950 Watts...now that's powerful and it is only $79 or $89. I watched a Vitamix demo in Costco the other day and if money was no object, I'd be very tempted. They made a terrific soup which was cooked by the heat from friction (is that even possible?) and a smoothie where even the seeds, etc. were liquefied. The model used in the demo was around 600.00 but there were also cheaper models. I was surprised that Vitamix also takes trades on older models. |

Olive, Look into the one I bought...I think it's capable of achieving low Earth orbit on full speed. I cannot believe I ordered it on Wednesday and it was at my door on Thursday. That 56 ounce carafe is really great and the 900 Watts makes it the strongest blender I have ever seen. Posted Image Edited by Trotsky, Mar 3 2014, 11:54 AM.

If it's even half as great as it looks, you will be having a great old time with it. Superb! |
