I'm having trouble with sheep pelts, pellets and pallets.

Sheep pelts are the raw skins which are groomed into the medical underlays which are good but IMHO expensive.
Sheep pellets are compressed sheep manure and wool scraps and sometimes added Nitrophoska Blue compound fertiliser which are also good and I use quite a bit of ... and they're quite cheap!

My meaning was pelts. One is sort of useless since it is too small for much of anything, and the shape is not inducive for making most clothing or coverings economically.

I think one sheepskin underlay is used to provide some limited support (around the hip region) for bedridden patients. There are also a kind of boot where the heel area is protected by the sheepskin. Other larger underlays are made from individual pelts machine sewn together which I guess adds to the final product price.
