The Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec had another strong year in 2013, led by growth in the value of its U.S. equities that helped generate a 13.1 per cent annual return on investments.

Quebec's largest pension fund manager said it beat its benchmark portfolio, which grew by 12.6 per cent, and the value of its assets rose to $200.1 billion from $176 billion in 2012.

Net investment results totalled $22.8 billion and net deposits were $1.2 billion as of Dec. 31, 2013.

The Caisse said stronger equity markets in the United States were the largest engine for growth last year, rising by 22.9 per cent. The $18.2 billion gain included $3.4 billion from its private equity portfolio.

They are doing well in Quebec, reading this makes me happy that I am on QPP rather than CPP. I may be wrong because I have no idea what the Canada Pension fund growth is for last year. Anyone know?

CPP grew from 152 to 170 billion in 2012. They say a 10% gain in 2013 but the report isn't issued until March. How come QPP has more money than CPP? Quebec is supposed to be needy.

2013 was a great year for investments. Many mutual funds did better than 13%.
Things are up nicely in 2014 so far, too.

Delphi I think they administer more than the QPP. there are other pensions there as well but I don't remember which.

You have to remember that this money is not government money but money from the taxpayers of Quebec and they pay the highest income tax of any other resident of any other province. The government only administers the fund and other pensions also.
