SILICON VALLEY may not be a financial success because it demands the audience provides some smarts. On the other hand, so does BIG BANG THEORY and it has been wildly successful for seven years now. You will love it Bitsy. I think I need to watch THRONES again because too many martinis may have interfered with my full grasp of the show. (Oh, am I paying the price this morning.) There was just SO much new stuff on last night between NURSE JACKIE, YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, MAD MEN, VEEP, COSMOS, and SILICON VALLEY that my DVR kept signaling conflicts. So I had to pick and choose and Episode 2 of THRONES will get recorded on an off time, it looks like Midnight tonight. Seems all networks are premiering all their good stuff on Sunday night lately. It takes real work to make sure you miss nothing. My particular bugaboo is the CW Network (Channel 11 in NYC) and that channel is owned by Comcast and Time Warner so they give NOTHING On-Demand to Verizon FIOS. (I guess if we had an FCC they might do something about it.<satire>) So unless I makes sure I get my shows exactly on time I miss all my succulent vampire programming. (Vampire Diaries, The Originals.) CW doesn't do repeats. The newest DVR's can do 5 shows at once. I laughed when I first heard that thinking WHO could need so much TV. And now I just say HMMMM.
So, did someone lop off Joffrey's head? :snowflake: (But don't tell me...shhh) Edited by Trotsky, Apr 15 2014, 02:45 AM.

Another great episode, since I have read the book, I was anticipating the ending but it was gratifying. if the first two shows are any indication of the season, GoT will once again be one of the most watched shows in the history of HBO. Their audience growth from season to season is phenomenal. |

It really is a viewing experience both visually and the story line.
IMO, The Wire is the best show in TV history. |

I just couldn't get off the ground with THE WIRE. It's probably because I find the whole concept of drug crimes tedious. So last night I watched the OTHER 47 Sunday shows and tonight will be GoT...alone because Bob cannot get interested in it. I sat him down at the end of last year and made him watch an episode from start to finish but that cannot work because I spent the hour with "That one's the other ones half brother. Yeah they are brother and sister and they fathered the king. Yeah their father was a nice guy so they beheaded him. Yep, they spend their lives on a big ice wall. Yah, the crippled kid has visions. Umm hmm, the dragons obey only her. Nope, not dogs but DYREWOVES. No, that was the OTHER castle." See what I mean. laugh123 Edited by Trotsky, Apr 16 2014, 12:39 AM.

That map is so much fun. It looks a little like England with King's Landing near London. And sort of Scotland is "beyond the wall." You know, if this craze continues to grow, it is going to blow Dungeons and Dragons out of the water. Edited by Trotsky, Apr 19 2014, 12:01 AM.

So, no more HBO for me. What Season/Episode was last Sunday so that I can play catch-up if they give a freebie weekend. I guess it is Season 4, Episode 5 "First of His Name" that I need start with (didn't see this Sunday.) Edited by Trotsky, May 9 2014, 11:27 PM.

I tried giving up HBO once and it didn't work for me, I would give up a meal or two before I give it up again. |

You know what most pisses me off, Bitsy? I have the EXTREME TV package from Verizon FIOS and in New York City this package is advertised, even on MY VERIZON web page as including Showtime and HBO. A technician clued me in on it. I had been buying HBO for half price ($10) for a year and feel I have had my pocket picked. So not it's up to $20 and When I called Verizon on it they basically said "Yes, it's included with EXTREME in NYC but not for you." Imagine. Verizon is currently at the bottom of my shit list but I am not done doing battle with them yet. But I will NOT pay $20/month for something I should be getting free. After the dust settles, if I don't get my way, I may well end up a Time Warner subscriber. Edited by Trotsky, May 10 2014, 02:01 AM.
