I am getting hard of hearing and my daughter thinks I should get a hearing aid. I had my hearing tested about 5 years ago and probably should have got them then, but didn't because of the cost. It seems like anything any good would cost a couple of thousand dollars. Also, people I know that have them still seem to have hearing problems, especially in restaurants and crowds. I know I have to give in and get them eventually but about how much do they cost these days in Ontario and do people like them? Some don't wear them much of the time. |

Don't fall for the ads for the $19.99 jobs that look like hearing aids. Hey are terrible. I ordered 4 from Quebec a couple decades ago and they ate a battery per day, fitted badly and were noisy. I used the New York Attorney General to get me my money back. A good temporizer might be something that goes for less than $50 about the size of a pack of cigarettes, uses headphones and AA batteries. They are good for things like the theater. Here's a cheapy maybe worth the $15. Posted Image Here are some varieties: https://www.google.com/search?q=Bell+%26+Howell%C2%AE+Sonic+Earz%E2%84%A2&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:IE-Address&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADRA_enUS520#q=Bell+%26+Howell%C2%AE+Sonic+Earz%E2%84%A2&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:IE-Address&tbm=shop I get a kick out of the ones that masquerade as a Bluetooth. If anyone tries one of these things, we all want a review. Edited by Trotsky, Apr 16 2014, 01:10 AM.

I must be one of the lucky ones. While working as a heavy equipment operator for the Dept of Nat Defence it was documented that I lost my hearing. To make a log story short I went to workman's compensation and am now tested and get new hearing aids of the best quality at no cost. Also the batteries are free. Lucky me. Haili all hearing aids do is amplify the sound. Even though I have a noise eliminator, in a noisy environment your aids pick up the unwanted and wanted sounds. On the other hand watching TV, listening to the radio or quiet conversations will really benefit from wearing them. |
