I recently saw the l l/2 hour pilot of FoxX and it was terrific. To add to the interest, it is filmed in Calgary which serves as a standin for Bemidji. Minnesota . As an interesting aside, the crew found Calgary too cold for survival! Billy Bob Thorton stars in this new show and is excellent. The pilot was a stand alone story based on true case. It had all the elements of a good movie including lots of dark humor. It was inspired by Fargo the movie but is not a related story. Unfortunately , the rest of the series will not be available to many including me. It will be on a new channel called FoxXX which is not carried by Shaw. I believe Rogers customers might be able to see at least the second show. |

In spite of FARGO, the movie, being as highly praised as movies get, I never was able to get into it. Something about Frances McDormand's fake folksiness always bothers me...almost like a female Colombo. I don't think I get Foxx either. |

WOW....I thought I was all alone in my dislike of the movie "Fargo." I never "got" it. DH wanted to watch the debut of the TV series, but I disliked the movie so much I refused. He did like the film. Olive, if the series is only loosely based on the film, what is it about? How is it diferent? |

I thought Fargo was fantastic. Different strokes for different folks:) I've got the TV show on my PVR and will have a go later on today. It's supposed to be terrific. |

My son-in-law comes from North Dakota. He told me the residents hated the movie. Their concern was that it did not depict the people of the area properly. The son-in-law told me that was exactly how the people were in real life. The only good part in the movies was the one dullard feeding the body of the other into the small wood chipper near the end of the movie. The whole story was cornpone, sort of like Walking Tall. |

I agree with Olive and Helen, I enjoyed the movie and the TV show is fantastic. Billy Bob Thornton 's portrayal of an evil yet fascinating character is Emmy award winning. The TV show is not for the faint of heart. |

Just watched it - absolutely fantastic. Martin Freeman's acting is great, bit of a change from "the Hobbit" Can't wait for the next episode. |

Very funny. I wonder if the same kind of humour is possible in the TV version, and if it is, will it quickly become tiresome. |

Murder, abuse, kidnapping, idiocy. Doesn't take much to stimulate the peasants. I wonder how a little burning at the stake would go over today? |

It's not the plot that was so amusing, it was the characters, and of course the accents. |

When you live in Winnipeg, Fargo and Grand Forks are weekend destinations for those who want to shop over the border. This added to my enjoyment of the movies and series. I did not find the female constable bland in the original Fargo. Clumsily pregnant and plain, she shone with dignity and decency. A lesser movie would have chosen some hot athletic babe. The series at least in its first episode promises to shine on its own. The villain with his own odd morality and the excellent cast of police will certainly bring intrigue and humor to the screen. |
