Where is my .22 rifle?; The squirrels ate my kale

I arrived back from Budapest, looking forward to seeing all my kale plants flourishing.

Instead -- nothing.

Not a single leaf.

The god damn squirrels had eaten it all. They did leave the chives, rosemary and thyme.

Our cat is a hunter, but evidently it does not hunt squirrels. ohmy 03

I don't know whether animals these days are generating more fur, or whether I just didn't notice it as much when I was younger.

Time to get a dog.

There was a time when we were serial bull mastiff owners.

But now, Mrs. Heat worries that a dog would upset our cat. I say let them sort it out. Cats are more than able to hold their own.
My daughter has a bitch and after its mother died, it was lonely! She bought a kitten, having previously told the dog she would be getting a kitten.
When the kitten arrived, the dog was very accepting of it. Now they are inseparable.
Only thing is, it seems the cat thinks its a dog!

My son and dil have two goldens and a 31/2 yr old. The youngest golden seems to knock the kid over a lot and they both shed like crazy.

Daughter and son in law are now getting quite serious about a dog for grandchild.

We are talking about picking a good trainer before getting the dog, and involving him or her in the process.

I saw the grey squirrel at my tulips this morning and gave chase! They never give though and he'll be back.

I used to live in a house that had a mulberry tree just outside the back door and I'd often add mulberries in season to my breakfast. The squirrels certainly got more of them than I did though. They'd sit in the tree enjoying the feast and laughing at me when they saw me watching.
