My husband, son, dil and I love Parenthood and that is a very strange quartet. We never all like the same thing and often go out to see a movie together and end up sitting in different theatres, getting together after for drinks and dinner. |

I'm another Doc. Martin fan and also watch Call the Midwife and Dalziel and Pascoe. I like most of the Brit. mysteries but lately I don't find much worth watching in the evening. |

I also love Call the Midwife. There is another series I loved, but can't recall the name of it. It was about life in a small Alaska town and centered around a Jewish doctor from NY city who found homself there. Now, we seldom watch ANY new series unless we have heard fabulous things about it from friends. We really hate feeling the pressure to watch anything at a particular time, which if we don't, spoilers will spoil it if we simply DVR an episode. I do like Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, Drop Dead Diva and Blacklist currently on TV, but refuse to become addicted to anything else. I remember the days (Perry Mason, anyone?) when both dram and comedy series episodes stood alone, so if you missed an episode, it really didn't much matter to one's enjoyment and understanding of the series. |

You've hit the nail on the head bj. The stand alone episodes didn't feel so much like blackmail. Sort of like going to a restaurant and being served the appetizer and being told to come back next night for the main, and so on. It's demeaning and I resent it. |

" It was about life in a small Alaska town and centered around a Jewish doctor from NY city who found homself there." Northern Exposure - yes, I liked that one too. The Beach Combers is another Canadian oldie but goodie. But OOPS! :cow-IthinkIamgoingmad: those are both comedies and this is the 'drama' thread. Edited by Dana, May 23 2014, 01:32 PM.

Trotsky: I don't remember that one but there were some good dramas in the early days of TV. "There are 8 million stories in the naked city - and this has been one of them." It must have been called the Naked City but there were others that I've forgotten. |

The Bridge on Fox is a great series if you can catch season l. Season 2 will start later this summber. I know it looks boring, Mexico, borders, etc. but it is much more than that. Excitement and fine acting. |

We can't forget Breaking Bad which is one of the most entertaining shows ever. I think it was Angora who convinced me to watch it . Fabulous fun! |
