Hope it's better than the asinine book. So poorly written and manages to make sex very boring. |

Easy ... I/We simply couldn't shut my eyes, I/We'd miss what was coming next!! I must admit the theatre purist was a bit embarrassed though ... we'll also remember it as a highlight of our trip! |

Oh how nice to hear. We weren't sure. We see an immense amount of theater usually before the critics and thus see many cinders among the gems. Of "50 Shades" the best description is probably "unique."<wink> P.S. Bob was the "theater purist" who dozed during Act 1. I thought it was good, silly, salacious fun. You don't see a lot of broad smut these days. Think of it as a potty-mouthed three stooges episode. (The show is doing very well purely on word of mouth...almost no advertising.) Olive, it is only very loosely connected to the book in that it involves 4 beautiful women whose lives are changed after having read the book. And there are two of the most beautiful "extras" you'll ever see on a stage...stripped to the waist in leather pants and a fat Chinese comic whose belly jiggling routine stays in my mind...no matter WHAT I do to get rid of it. He (Chis Grace) steals the show. :45_yes.gif: Most memorable song: "Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck"...and about 100 more. :jig: Edited by Trotsky, Jun 15 2014, 01:46 AM.

It sounds fun which the book wasn't. I would like to see it when it makes its way here. Tomorrow, I'm going to see a musical based on Patsy Cline. It's mostly music of that era so it should be enjoyable. |

RAINBOW STAGE in Winnipeg, eh? They had anticipated a Broadway opening last Summer for the 50th Anniversary of her death but it never happened. I read that it had played NYC off-Broadway in the past but it went by me. Here's a review, Olive: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/great-music-but-patsy-cline-won-t-get-you-closer-to-crooner-1.2669797 |

Thanks Trotsky. Sounds like it won't be great theatre but oh, those songs. "I Fall to Pieces" so captures the heartbreak of unrequited love. The nice thing about Rainbow Stage is that it's outside in a lovely park and it's affordable. |

Olive. DO see THE PRODUCERS next month. It's brilliant musical theater. |

The critics were right about Patsy Cline. Good music but it lacked narrative and soul. The Buddy Holly story was much more memorable. I hope to see The Producers. The movie was hilarious. On stage, I can just imagine how good it would be. . |

Olive, The stage version of the Producers is far better even than the movie. Incomparable theater. Buddy Holly was SO good on Broadway. When the show ended the audience descended into Orchestra and started dancing and singing and the Orchestra members continued playing Holly hits for 45 minutes. "Peggy, Peggy, Peggy, Peggy, Peggy-Sue." |
