This HBO series was just nominated for many Emmys and DH and I never bothered even glancing at it, so tonight we decided to check it out On Demand.

I have always disliked both Matthew McConahey and Woody Harrelson, which is why we never bothered.

Well, it is spectacular. One of the best dramas I have ever seen. We watched the first three hours.

I cannot even begin to describe it. It's a cross between a cop story and a philosophy lecture.

I highly recommend it, and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.

I've watched it quite a bit and I am of the same opinion BJ

I was enthralled by the show and the acting. McConahey received all the media raves but, IMO, I thought Harrelson was equally deserving.

I tried 2 episodes back when.
I don't like McConaughy nor do I like Harrelson...all that down-home Southerness turns my stomach.
Yes, both are very good actors and both are playing quirky interesting characters.

But I turned off on "cops and robbers" long ago. Much like I did with "cowboys and Indians" and "war movies."
I guess that's what happens when one lives long enough and goes to the movies a couple times a week from age 4...we reach a limit.

I think I turned off "private eyes" two minutes after Bogey said "I knew dat dame was trouble the minute she brought those perfect gams into my office." Cliché. "Noir" went bye-bye after my 10th Robert Mitchum movie, although I continued to love Ida Lupino.

I just can't get past the McConaughy factor. He creeps me out; both his appearance and when he opens his mouth as he did at the Oscars, it's worse.

Yes, I really dislike him for some reason, and I'm not convinced he's that good an actor. To me Harrelson is MUCH better.
