FREE FALL

In Deutche it is FREIR FALL, a new movie that is available on Netflix Watch Instantly.
I strongly recommend it with the understanding that the best description of it might be the German BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

A new father and policeman suddenly realizes something about himself...and it turns lives upside down.
Really well made film, superbly acted and haunting.

It provoked a thought in me: perhaps bisexuality in men actually exists as something besides an excuse.

Thanks for the heads up on this movie. Don't you think sexual interest could be on a continuum with some people purely homosexual and some herteosexual with a whole pile of people on a sliding scale tilting either way?

I just started watching Rectify on Netflix, a Sundance production. A man on death row with 20 years is released and returns to the small town on his youth. Beautifully made.

Kinsey felt that way about men, but it has not been my experience. I think most gay men feel that "bisexuality" is just an excuse. But this movie seems to say otherwise.
In truth, I don't think I know one way or the other.

I think for women there is more of a sliding scale, but perhaps that's because women loving women don't suffer the same stigmata as men do. Perhaps with men it is societal forcing into unnatural roles that makes it seem so either-or.

We'll give Rectify a shot, but it sounds awfully Kafkaesque and cruel. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a critical rating of 90% and an audience rating of 98%...so definitely worth a try.

Thank's Bitsy.
I had completely forgotten we watched Rectify. For some reason the title didn't stick. (Sometimes I think I watch too much TV.)

Yesterday started RUSH and SATISFACTION (both USA Network.) I enjoyed both but Bob dozed on SATISFACTION. To me the latter seems very much like HUNG from a few years back with Thomas Jane as the male hooker. RUSH seems to echo the drug problems of NURSE JACKIE.
I guess truly NEW themes are getting harder and harder to find.

I watched episode 10 of l2 of Rectify last night and I really enjoy it. I'm hoping there will be a 3rd season.
My son wants me to watch Hemlock Grove next.

I did the first 2 episodes of Hemlock Grove...I think it is for me but not for Bob.
(That's alright, he has a nice big TV in the bedroom and an endless supply of old TCM movies.)

Hands up if anyone isn't enamoured of Rush (Tom Ellis.)
