I had a phone call yesterday from the airline saying that I had won $990 toward a new flight. As I have a virgin flight booked for October I assumed this was linked to being an existing customer. I had mentally spent the money and followed the prompts however giving my credit card details over the phone made me suspicious and I hung up. I then rang Virgin Australia and found out that this was a scam and had been reported to the Australian consumer commission . I had not seen anything in the paper or on the news about this scam but thought it was worth warning our Australian members . Rereading this I hung up before giving the credit card details but the phone line at Virgin Australia, the real one, said if you had given those details to contact your credit card provider.

Makes one wonder if there's a insider working for Virgin that is feeding stuff to the scammers. |

Whenever I follow one of these freebies and get to the "What is your Credit Card number" I hit the X. If they are giving me something for nothing there is no need for them to know MY credit card number. Edited by Trotsky, Jul 20 2014, 01:16 AM.

I opened my mail up and found this message..
I know enough from previous experiences CIBC will not contact me through my email and right away the address is very suspect. Clearly it is from the Czech Republic as far as I am aware support is not from the Czech Republic but then again with the new laws of foreign workers etc.. Harper has allowed and outsourcing.. never know oooh 02 laugh123 |
