Wow, I don't normally think of fresh fruit being a source of listeria. I thought it was mostly a luncheon meat concern. |

With all the suspected contaminants it is a wonder that we are all alive. Credit goes to an upbringing where we were happy to eat anything, and damn the consequences. People of the world unite, and throw out your antiseptic sprays and solutions! |

I ate my first pluot (didn't even know what it was) from a senior center on Friday a week and was desperately ill by Monday night (103 fever) I diagnosed norovirus, still my best bet because of the vomiting, but this Listeria scare has me thinking. P.S. Only yesterday I asked a grocer what the funny fruit was and he said "pluot" and I asked whether it was a cross between a plum and an otter...he laughed. I gather it was plum + apricot. From the one I ate, it holds no fascination for me, almost tasteless. Edited by Trotsky, Aug 8 2014, 05:12 AM.
