It's unconstitutional to forbid licensed medical marijuana users from possessing pot-laced products, such as cookies or body creams, a B.C. Court of Appeal judge has ruled.

Parliament has been given one year to recraft regulations to allow medicinal marijuana users to use products made from cannabis extract. They can include creams, salves, oils, brownies, cakes, cookies and chocolate bars.

Health Canada currently allows people suffering from debilitating illnesses access to medicinal marijuana, but only in the form of dried marijuana.

In her written reasons, Justice Risa Levine said this specification "is arbitrary and cannot be justified in a free and democratic society."

Levine went on to state that when patients choose to use edible forms of marijuana, it "was a matter of necessity, or put another way, the restriction to dried marijuana interfered with their physical or psychological integrity

Excellent news and a very sensible decision.

My grand daughter has epilepsy and her seizures are progressing from mild to worrisome. A strain of pot developed in Colorado is said to greatly alleviate such seizures. It is very low in the stuff that gets you high, but has lots of the stuff that relieves seizures and for an eight year old, best taken in a cookie.

Heat~ you may have seen this on CNN. I saw a program not long ago where a child was having 100 seizures per day. They gave her the strain of M.J. you mentioned, and she now has only 10! The parents from Az. had to travel to Colorado for treatment. They won't let them take the drug across borders, thus Mother and child remain in Co. and father has gone back to Az to work!

Is that not really stupid, why these weird laws in AZ? Is it this evangelical mind set or what?

And remember too that rules is rules, until they are not! A former attorney general of BC, Kash Heed said that he believes that cannabis will be legal in Canada within 5 yrs. He is in no way a lefty having belonged to the right wing party in BC.
