I have friends who are this week in the midst of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

My friend Godfrey Madaraka Nyerere is hosting the climb as he is experienced has climbed the mountain many times. He used to climb at least twice a year but as with most of us time catches up. He now leaves it to one major expedition per year.
Training for a climb is usually around 3 months for an experienced climber up to a year for a novice.

The photo below they just completed the CDEA Kilimanjaro climb with musician Maembe Vitali in aid of CDEA's project to benefit artists. In the photo is Vitali on the third day of the climb at the top of the Barranco wall (4,200m+ or 13779.5 feet) where the clouds below gave him inspiration to pull out his guitar and play one of his songs..

Reminds me of the old Al Jolson song. "I'm sitting on top of the world"

Wow. Impressive. I love that kind of view. After growing up in the city I was a bit agoraphobic but that is long gone since living under open skies and spending time by the ocean where there is nothing in sight between us and Japan.

Such a wonderful opportunity. I expect anyone with artistic skills would be inspired to create something, either as a result of the physical climb or once at the top. Seeing those clouds below your feet must give a sense of flight.

For myself I think I would have a great sense of accomplishment, must be wonderful to sit there and see that.
