We are still working on that wall bed! There must be 1000 pieces if you count all the screws. I had a heck of a time tonight putting two spacers in that I forgot to do 6 steps ago. One piece of wood missing so I made another myself. Here it is in the open position. I don't have a picture of it closed just yet. The black piece of wood on the bed is helping hold it down - it will pop right up to the closed position without that extra bit of weight. There is a fire burning in the stove but it doesn't show up well in the picture. Posted Image DW smelled gas and she found the leak in the pipe under the stove with soapy water. Plumber came back and fixed it promptly this morning. Edited by Delphi51, Oct 2 2014, 05:22 PM.

Delphi, What is that stainless steel container to the right of the stove that seems to be connected with a hose? Seems to have a pump handle on top? This "gas stove" isn't perhaps a kerosene stove is it? Or worse, "gasoline?" (I can see the blue flame.) Is the bed IKEA? Edited by Trotsky, Oct 2 2014, 10:59 PM.

Trotsky, it looks like a vacuum cleaner to me. That sure is going to be nice when completed. I have had to undo large 'put together' projects because I forgot something. You are lucky you were able to fix your forget. Edited by Darcie, Oct 3 2014, 12:44 AM.

It will be wonderful to sit out there with a good book, the stove on and a glass of wine in hand. Yeah ..... sounds like a plan. Great job Delphi. Take care, Pat |

Yes, my mother's filter queen vacuum cleaner from the early 60s. I remember trying to warn her away from the door to door salesman who sold it to her for a really high price. But it sure lasted a long time and the design makes it work way better than most modern ones. The filter is a sheet of paper formed into a cone with an area of several square feet. You just brush it off and use it again. Even drywall dust is stopped cold. My shop vac has a $16 filter that cakes with dust in a few minutes of use and nothing short of an air compressor can clean it. I was very lucky on that fix. I cut the plastic ring open, taking a piece out of it cutting on angles so it had some chance of slipping onto the shaft. I drilled a tiny hole in the side for a wire that I used to hold it in place between the boards on the bed and the board on the upright. A single hammer tap on a stick against the top of the ring and it popped on. First try on both sides! Sometimes things just work. There were a few tricky parts. A bunch of screws had to be screwed into wood in confined areas, too short for screwdriver and drill. No pilot hole was possible. I got Robertson screws, used a driver bit and a quarter inch socket with ratchet handle. Edited by Delphi51, Oct 3 2014, 04:52 AM.

I used to have one that looked like that Delphi, gave it away when I moved to BC from Edmonton. Have been sorry ever since then. |

Nice stove! I would like one like that in case of an extended power outage! When living at the lake the power went out regularly. Here in the city, it hasn't been out since I moved here, 8 years ago! I considered a Murphy bed for my computer room in the basement. Sadly, the ceiling height wasn't high enough to accommodate it! Had to settle for a futon. I'll be looking forward to seeing in the closed position! |

We had the eavestroughing crew in today and I visited the dentist, so no work done and no pictures to show. Here are the Costco wall beds. Curiously, our double bed size is no longer listed. http://www.costco.ca/CatalogSearch?storeId=10302&catalogId=11201&langId=-24&refine=&keyword=wall+beds These Beststar beds are made in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec. |

Thanks for the link. The ones I saw were more expensive than these are. There is plenty of choice, |

Thank you, I guess the Costco prices are pretty good. Costco usually gives good value for the money, just too much money is spent in that store. Posted Image I installed blinds over the last few days and DW came home with a love seat yesterday so we are probably finished with the sun room for the winter. Unfortunately a little error in the soffit installation showed up when the siding reached it. The best fix is to take the soffit off that side and install it again. Next spring. |

You bet! I am surprised how nice it is in there as winter sets in. It is so nice looking out at the snow and fog all around. MIL loves the hot spot the stove makes. DW is in there painting nearly every morning. It's a big hit! So far it looks like the room holds warmth very well. We haven't actually needed the heater so far despite temps below freezing. |
