I'm gonna try the microwave "potato chips." For the stinky sponge, scouring pads, and dish rags, I prefer the boil-in-a-pot method for sterilization. Edited by Trotsky, Jan 30 2015, 02:06 AM.

From a man, I learned to place a dish rag on the top rack of a dishwasher with a cup or something to hold it down and let it go through a cycle. That freshens them up and keeps them clean! |

No need to use bleach in your cups. Rinse so the inside is wet then sprinkle a little bakilg soda and rub the inside - works easily and quickly. I keep baking soda in a parmesan cheese shaker for this purpose. |

one thing you have to be really careful of. Boiling water in a microwave. It gets superheated and can't release the bubbles. You can get scalded. Put a toothpick on top of the water before microwaving it. |

I would never put a stinky dishrag in the dishwasher. The washing machine is the place for stinky stuff. |

Nothing beats boiling to kill bacteria, fungus (mold,) and viruses. No additives needed. Edited by Trotsky, Jan 31 2015, 01:23 AM.

Yeah but the guy eats sponges. One minute boiling is all it takes for a boil water advisory. |

I usually stick the cat in the microwave after a brisk shower. Twenty minutes on high does the trick. |
