My grand daughter is coming over this morning, which means pancakes and bacon. I use yogurt rather than buttermilk, because the buttermilk never seems to get used up. Often I add blueberries. What are yours like? |

I just roast it at 325 degrees. I serve it with whatever veg I have on hand. Probably carrots and turnip roasted along with today. I might sauté some leeks too. I have a side of sauerkraut and applesauce warmed up. I don't like sweet things with meat but with the sauerkraut it's ok. |

Thanks Angora, the sauerkraut is out for me, I really detest it. I have a turnip, and carrots, sounds OK to me. |

What a shame it is to insist that kids eat certain foods against their will. I have a friend who is a gifted cook and an omnivorous diner, but who will not touch rhubarb or saskatoons because she ate so many as a child. |

I have a friend with a similar problem, she grew up on a apple farm and really would rather avoid them now. Darcie chutney goes well with roast pork, also your applesauce can be unsweetened. |

At first I thought Darcie had eaten a yucky grapefruit! Shows how much our shorthand changes over many years. Interesting reading about the foods we do not like. Growing up I was never forced to eat specific foods, nor were my children. However, I realized about 15 years ago or so that I did not like asparagus, pears, beets and some other produce because I had only ever had them in canned form. Definite yuck. I love fresh asparagus, still cannot stand pears and only eat borsct for the beets unless my clever daughter is able to hide them. My daughters all have food they love and food they hate. I can never remember who will eat what and have run into problems with that times. I used to just make macaroni and cheese if we were all together but now even that is a problem! GF and DF issues of course. Best solution is to tell them to take me out for dinner. |

We love crepes (very thin pancakes). When made (usually make a stack and freeze) I put a spoonful of cottage cheese that has a little sugar mixed into it on each crepe, then fold in half then fold again trying to keep filling inside. Fry in butter, sprinkle with icing sugar just a tiny bit, and serve. Very delicious as breakfast or a sweet treat in the evening. |

That sounds delicious, will have to try those. I have done that and added lox along with a little slivered onions and capers. I like them better than with bagels. Also have rolled them around asparagus, this makes a meal. |

I made a sauce for the pork that I have not had before. I really liked it. 1/2 cup frozen organ juice undiluted. 1/2 cup marmalade 1 tbsp orange zest 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger. 2 tbsp soy sauce 2 tbsp cider vinegar 1 tbsp Dijon mustard cracked pepper. Just heat it, will do this again as it was very good, especially went well with the roasted vegetables. |
