Sweden just announced the first baby born from a transplanted womb.

Amazing, but why not?

Because we already have too many people on the planet?

We should stop at self reproduction only, just because some go one to have many more does not mean that a couple should do without a child.

I think we should aim at over population where the fault lies and not at the people who do not overproduce.

Maybe to control population we should stop health care to anyone over a certain age? Without health care many would die a lot earlier.

There are other ways to have children. I think the insistence on having 'one of my own' is an unhealthy fixation.

Reproduction is the reason for our presence on earth. As our species evolves, perhaps our progeny will be advanced enough to be allowed into heaven.
Sorry to say, but it seems that we still have a way to go!

From what I understand there are not enough children to adopt, many couples go to other countries but even that is seen as wrong for one reason or another.

Some do-gooders think that the reason for not enough babies to adopt is due to birth control and abortion availability.

Darcie, your comment reminded me of a bit I wrote on how to control overpopulation. Here it is:

Ideas For Ending Overpopulation

Posted April 3, 2011 by dogsandavocados

What is the greatest threat facing mankind? I am here to tell you that overpopulation is our Achilles heel. That’s right. One day, we will all be ass-to-elbows with our neighbors fighting over that last piece of chicken. So, how do we fix it? I believe it’s going to take drastic measures. We must shorten the average life span and decrease the birthrate. Here are my ideas.

•Introduce “running with scissors” to the Kindergarten curriculum.
•Remove every Barry White record from the face of the Earth.
•Throw birth control pills instead of rice at every wedding.
•Tax breaks for those who refuse medical treatment.
•Remove all “Beware of dog” signs.
•Introduce a new Disney attraction: “The Enchanted Electric Chair.”
•Norm, the master carpenter, will no longer recommend using safety goggles during woodworking projects.
•Make it illegal to use headlights at night.
•Introduce new Boy Scout merit badge for “Land mine detection.”
•No more high school proms .
•Ban Viagra and introduce a new drug, “Niagara,” which causes unrelenting urination.
•During childhood games, replace the “hot potato” with a live hand grenade.
•Anyone over the age of 70 must sign up for two years of military duty.
•Change the entire base of the Food Pyramid to “Big Macs.”
•Have a “Free Cigarettes Day,” at every major league ballpark.
•In sex education classes, teach that foreplay should always include a healthy amount of nagging.
•At the beach, parents should insist that children go right back into the water after a heavy meal.
•Mandatory “No CPR” tattoos after age 60, to be placed on the sternum between the nipples.
•Have doctors advise patients that dark, irregular skin growths that ooze or bleed are perfectly normal.
•Baby’s first solid food? Olives!
