I heard on the news that there is now an agreement between Canada and China that allows Canadian passport holders to receive ten year multi entry visas to China. As of a couple of days ago I had not found the cost of such but did read that each visit is limited to 180 days. I should point out these visas are for visitors and business people. Once I have a better idea as to when I plan to return for an extended visit - still in the planning stage - I am going to apply for one as it makes sense now I have a ten year passport and expect to be going back and forth more often now that I am not completely tied down to work.
