If you were to research Campy on Google you wouldn't get anything about ur guy who lives in Northern Ontario, however that was not his only reason for leaving.

One must be careful with what he posts. These posts are FOREVER.
I for one have realized that my chances of a congressional seat are FARSCHMELDT.

My Google of campy got this as the first proffered:
Quote:

Campy (adj.): Being so extreme that it has an amusing and sometimes perversely sophisticated appeal. Over the top and farcical, intentionally exaggerated so as not to be taken seriously.

Food for thought, eh?

Most reference to "campy" have to do with biking, as campy is short for campagnolo, high quality racing bike components. And "campy forums" are all biking talk.

And then there is Jim Campilongo's website clled Campy's Forum. I think Jim is a guitarist of some fame from a cursory look.

Oh my God, I hope nobody researches "Trotsky"...I'll be doomed.

Years ago the owner of a board Googled me, and came back and told members I was posting all over the Net. No, not me. My name is taken by many with Golden Retrievers. Shows how people can be mistaken.

Take care,
Pat

I guess if campy doesn't want to be here, he doesn't have to. If he does then he will be. Always his decision and his only.

Exactly ... his decision.

I'm wondering why we feel the need to Google then confront people. Your findings could be false as was the case with G.G. and furthermore who cares? Forums have admin. monitors in place. I don't think anyone of us have to be the "forum Police"! I find this behaviour "petty"!

Campy can be a PETA at times but then again, so can most of us. Campy, if you're out there, come back to the five and dime.

Heck I research because I can. I have to admit that I have never looked up any poster here, but I have looked up old friends that I lost track of.

Had a few shocks, found the obituary of my best friend in grade 8, did get in touch with her sons in Calgary and had a wonderful time answering all their questions about their mom.

I see nothing wrong with wanting to know stuff, who cares, everyone knows that anything that is on the Internet is certainly not private.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone looking me up, but there is a lot of information that is not me. I just am not that sensitive. Sometimes I check up on some of the events in my life to get the dates correct because I forgot, heck I have been around for 77 years.

Since I don't understand why anyone would care if they are looked up on the Internet would anyone please explain why one should not do this?

Darcie I agree I've researched people by their birth names and curious to know where they now etc. I also found a friend's obituary and was shocked. However i would never plug in a pseudonym and then come on the net and say i found you were a "pain in the ass" on many forums! IMO it's no one's business what people do on other forums, am I wrong in my thinking?

Swing, IMHO, by virtue of the fact that you post on an open and public forum you are saying that all is open to perusal.

I think it is perfectly fine and even expected. Why not?

No one is naive enough to think that because you don't do searches everyone else should not. Everyone is different and has the freedom to be so. I think it is perfectly OK, and that if you post you should expect this.

I would say so if the person kept acting as it they were OK and everyone else was the ass.

I understand that Campy has chosen a forum where his views and opinions are the majority and he is never questioned.

I can see that there is a vast difference, where we do accept anyone and their views some other forums only accept similar views with no debate?

Ooops wrong button: Wanted to say that it appears to be 'exclusive"
