Can't quite picture the clips Trotsky. When it's raised you clip the lower to the upper to hold it in place?

I don't know Trotsky, she always left them down as it was summer and hot. I never inquired about the clips.

The clips are explained here. There appears to be no provision for opening the blind. I guess they are temporary blinds to use until you get real ones.

Thanks Delph. I see, the clips are like plastic clothes pins and they COULD be used to hold the accordion shade open, albeit messily.

I suppose these "temporary shades" would work for a while, but then we would be soon stuck with the problem of what do when they are shot. Then back to square 1 for a permanent solution so I might as well go for permanent now.

I guess I can go to a passel of hardware stores and ASK if a single mount center bracket exists and if not, just use two in the center and then buy two "opaque" shades if I can find them in 39-40 inch at a reasonable price.

So I looked for cheap shades up in East Harlem on the way to ALDI's. I found nice big 4 story junky department store called AMERICAN STORES. Unfortunately they go up to size 38" ($7)and are cut down by the store. Then the next is 73 inches wide for $18. Seems such a waste to cut 34 inches off such a big shade and scrap it. If ONLY they were 80 inch shades I'd have sprung for one over both windows and no light sneaking in at the middle.

I even looked at cheap venetian blinds that also double in cost at the 36 inch mark. (And Bob reminded me how I SWORE never again for blinds.)

So I'll keep shopping for a different price and size structure.
