We passed through some prime farming country on our Whanganui trip yesterday and picked up 1 kg of top rate asparagus at NZ$5/kg and NZ peccorino cheese and today feasted on a fresh long bun containing asparagus spears, peccorino cheese, and shaved pastrami. Absolutely gorgeous! Peccorino - Sheep's cheese source link Asparagus - Horowhenua source link Asparagus recipes Edited by Kahu, Oct 14 2015, 02:43 PM.

Our GST of 15% is added into that price ... GST is always inclusive in NZ. |

We only pay it on certain food items, like chocolate and prepared items we pick up in the store. We do not pay it on food we have to prepare at home. It is confusing here. |

In NZ GST is payable on EVERYTHING ... even local body Rates which annoys me intensely. It is in effect a tax upon a tax and some countries have revolutions over such things. Australian GST/VAT varies from State to State and there are Federal Charges too plus they like you pay it on certain food items and not on others. |

Sales taxes and Value Added taxes are the way the rich pass on their duty to support a country onto the backs of the poor and middle classes. They are the most regressive forms of taxation. |

We have a long wait before we taste fresh local asparagus again. But worth the wait. |

Yes it will be a long wait till our local fresh comes in. Being taxed on used items, like purchasing a used car and such really bugs me. Once taxes are paid that should be it!! |
