Select a suitable apple. Place whole in microwave for 3 minutes. Break open and serve. Tasty, simple and nourishing.

I haven't had a baked apple in a coon's age back to when they first developed home microwaves and I tried to microwave EVERYTHING and after an exploding potato I learned that some things should be PIERCED before microwaving.

I'll try it with my next apple.

Of course one could ruin it by pouring maple syrup over it and a big gob of whipped cream in the center garnished with a few ground nuts.

Pick a red apple in pristine condition. Don't microwave over about 3 minutes since the nectar will evaporate.

A favourite dessert here is baked apple with the core removed and the cavity stuffed with dates and walnuts mixed with a little orange zest and cinnamon. I put them in the oven resting on a slice of orange and pour a tablespoon or so of orange juice over each one. Very Christmassy flavour and always popular.

That would be good! Or brandy, or bourbon.

Right, skip the apple.

Cavity of the apple stuffed with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon! Mother used to prepare this on the farm, with a little butter added of course!

Try the dates and walnuts, not overly sweet! Ad with the addition of orange it's sort of a quick and easy mincemeat flavour.
