Federal Court judge under review for berating sex assault complainant

Quote:

The Canadian Judicial Council is reviewing the conduct of a Federal Court judge who questioned the efforts of a sexual assault complainant to fend off her attacker.

The council announced Monday it will review the behaviour of Robin Camp during a 2014 case he adjudicated while serving as an Alberta Provincial Court judge. The case involved the alleged rape of a 19-year-old woman by a Calgary man, whom she accused of sexually assaulting her over a bathroom sink during a house party.

The review comes after a complaint from four law professors at Dalhousie University and the University of Calgary who described Camp as "dismissive, if not contemptuous" toward sexual assault laws and the rules of evidence.

Any guy would know if a girl is willing, there would be no mistaking it at all.

I get a kick out of the men who have the "I thought she consented" excuse.

Just thought that if they didn't know if she was consenting or not they certainly did not have sex with a willing woman.

So this judge was being considered for the federal court and this came to light when his background was checked. He was a pick of Peter MacKay oh well what else would one expect of the immoral man.

Why would it not be?
I dunno? Just wondered if custom has defined any extenuating circumstance.

Another question? There has always been story's about females being told that if they didn't cooperate they would have to walk home in the rain. Coerced, if you will!
Would that coecion be defined as a rape?

Not if you grab the keys, throw them out the window into the ditch, and walk home.

He won't follow because he is too concerned about his beloved car and looking for the keys.

You consider rape a custom? Geez. Rape is an act of violence and any extenuating circumstances arising from it are the stuff of nightmares and scars that fill a lifetime.

A threat is a threat, consent to sex or walk home in the rain is no less a threat than holding a knife at the throat of the victim...overt coercion is rape . Subtle coercion such as plying the victim with alcohol or drugs for the purpose of sex is also rape.

I know a person who frequented the bars in various parts of NA for boozing and meeting ladies. He was more than acceptable. His comment was if he did not instigate the initiative he would never get laid. In his probably 40 years of perusing the opposite sex he was seldom if ever propositioned for bed by the typical woman. I suspected he did not even like sex particularly, but the pursuit only. Often the view of consent is not black and white, and reflecting on various situations most people would agree with this.

Angora presented a scenario. I will present another, hotel room, nude on bed after the typical groping scenario, bit of booze. Just before the culmination of the act the lady says no. If the male persists without violence, which is likely is this RAPE?

Me being a bit of a connoisseur, sex and the partaking of was one of the pleasures of life. Similar to other activities of which the human race participate. It has priorities probably at the top of the list of pleasures.

Don't encompass all males in you condemnation. There is a simple solution. Don't associate.

Not sure who you are addressing with your obscure comments.
Are you telling me or David not to encompass all males in your condemnation? If me, I will tell you like I often tell Campy, please reread what I wrote and tell me where I encompassed all males.

I know of no female who would willinging associate with a rapist, at least that is what I think you are saying, but I could be wrong.

How about "STOP, pull it out NOW?" If he does not, has he raped the formerly willing partner?

That is exactly what I meant by SEDUCTION.

Seduction means you get someone to willingly have intercourse with you.

The willing means that they are in complete control of their faculties and not drugged or in fear etc.

Rape is using your power to coerce someone to have intercourse.

See the meaning of coerce.
