Today I made my cakes after letting the ingredients soak in rum over night!

I tried the supermarket Christmas cakes. Two actually, one I threw out half, the other after one slice. Too sweet amongst other things. I checked several displays in various stores and they are all made by one box supplier.

My wife use to make the best, but alas I don't know any home maker any more. So will pass this year.

If you were closer I would give you one Durgan. I obtained the dark cake recipe from a friend in Penticton 44 years ago. I posted the recipe on here a few years ago. I believe Agate also made the recipe and liked it.

I was talking to one of my friends yesterday and HE mentioned that Costco has the best christmas cakes (even better than the ones he use to make).
