Amidst revelations that the Fraser Institute accepted at least $500,000 from the Koch family between 2007 and 2010, the institute's co-founder acknowledged that the US oil billionaires have a long history of donating to the think tank.

Two foundations under the Koch family's auspices – the Charles G. Koch and the Claude R. Lambe Foundations – gave the Fraser Institute large grants to conduct “international work,” its former executive director Michael Walker told the Vancouver Observer.

“I know the grant from the Koch Foundation is for our international work, but I can't tell you which of the projects that it's funding,” Walker, who co-founded the institute in 1974 and remains a Senior Fellow, told the Vancouver Observer. “Before the Koch Foundation, we used to get funding from Koch Industries, when they had extensive holdings in Canada.

“Years and years” prior to receiving grants from the Koch family foundation, Walker said, a Canadian subsidiary of Koch Industries made regular donations to the organization as a corporate member.

laugh123 laugh123 laugh123 laugh123 laugh123 Like we didn't know that Canadians were letting themselves be run by the nose by US oil interests. I guess Conservatives think it is OK.

The left wing tank Policy Alternatives gets funding from Big Unions/Labour and some left wing orgs. get funding from Soros and Tides.

The new Liberal gov’t gave a couple of million to the Centre for policy alternatives and Parkland, so that’s your tax dollars funding a think tank.

I guess it’s okay for the Toronto Star to sell it’s editorial access to the left wing Tides foundation.

Leadnow another far left org. has admitted to receiving funding from American Tides in order to help swing Canadian elections. Not to mention Tides running an Anti pipeline campaign in Canada. There’s more but you get the drift

Sometimes it is hard to hate the brothers Koch too much.

They are very generous with NYC, especially Lincoln Center.
Quote:

The New York State Theater was built with funds from the State of New York as part of New York State's cultural participation in the 1964–1965 World's Fair. The theater was designed by architect Philip Johnson and opened on April 23, 1964. After the Fair, the State transferred ownership of the theater to the City of New York.

The theater is home to the New York City Ballet, and was the former home of the New York City Opera. Along with the opera and ballet, an early tenant of the theater was the Music Theater of Lincoln Center. Richard Rodgers was its president, and during his tenure many classic Broadway musicals were revived there in the 1960s. Among them were The King and I, Carousel (with its original star, John Raitt), Annie Get Your Gun (with its original star, Ethel Merman), Show Boat, and South Pacific.

In July 2008, philanthropist David H. Koch pledged to provide $100 million over the next 10 years for the purpose of renovating the theater and providing for an operating and maintenance endowment. It was renamed the David H. Koch Theater at the New York City Ballet Winter gala, Tuesday, November 25, of that year.

It is a very beautiful opera house.

Because morality is so far removed from the cpc agenda they are no longer in office and their agenda is being rolled back one bit at a time.

The Supreme Court is continuing to roll back illogical rules. This one today.

Knowing a little of the Koch brothers machinations politically in the US I was curious as to why since they have a lot of business ventures in Canada they were not doing more to support Harper. However it turns out they were very involved.

The Canadian people in general were very underestimated by the Harper government. We did have a reputation for being a caring country an image that Harper tried so hard to erase.
