Why we can’t stop talking about Vogue’s photo of Justin and Sophie

Apparently we can’t stop tweeting it and looking at it. Its allure is surpassed only by our desire to figure out what the hell is going on.

Is he saying, “You know I love you, even if I have to work late at cabinet tomorrow,” while she replies “I don’t care, it still leaves me alone with three kids for supper?” Is the fact that he’s gazing into her ear and holding her hips into his own while she’s looking beyond him, at what’s coming, an accurate reflection of the dynamic of their relationship? Quite possibly. The camera has never frightened Justin or his wife, who worked as a correspondent for CTV, and as Mikhail Baryshnikov once said, the body never lies.

“We’ve been preparing for this for years,” Sophie said of the couple’s political career in a private interview with The Globe shortly before the election in October. “Once Justin decided to go on the political scene, all the spotlights were on him. I think we’ve done pretty well finding a balance and a centre. It can be very scrutinized. We see a lot of leaders and people in the public service and the political world reacting with fear, or intimidation, lack of respect for other human beings. I think not only Canada but the world as a whole is called upon to really choose leaders who can generate unity and compassion throughout the world. This is how you find peace, right? I think it starts from within. And Justin has that capacity to swim through crazy waters but keep his vision, keep calm. He doesn’t lose control. He analyzes. He opens up at that moment, whether it’s in the boxing ring and he’s getting shots, or whether it’s in the political ring, or in nature. His personality stays true to who he is, wherever he is. And I think that’s very reassuring.”

His weakness?

Well gee whiz Bitsy. Congress including Hillary voted for the Iraq invasion and Bill Clinton passed the Act that Saddam should be deposed and replaced by a democratic government.

Did I say they didn't? But what does that have to do with you pretending to be an American citizen?

So I could post about American politics perhaps without getting slapped down perhaos while supporting G.W. Bush.

That's what I recall anyway. All this happened about ten years ago . And subsequent events proved me correct.

I was prevented from posting in the politics forum without even being told.

Did you say they didn't. No. But to me that's justification for G.E. Bush to carry out exactly what Bill Clinton wanted.

I had no problem with your posting about GW Bush....it was your deception that was wrong.

You can justify it however you wish, what you shouldn't have done is try to pass yourself off as an American.

I didn't. You just made assumptions. And what difference does it make. You criticize Canadian governments with impunity.

Why should I be prevented from criticizing American governments.?

You are even saying that presidents should not be criticized with derogatory terms but political cartoons are o,k.

Of course, you did. I have your post that proves it is so stop the wiggle, admit that you pretended to be an American... and lets move on.

Criticize all you want, just don't falsely pose as an American while doing so. I can image your wrath if I posed as a Canadian.

Trying to segue from your deception? ROFL

And what do you say when I tell you about posting about Harper and criticizing when you are not a Canadian?

Does it stop you. ?Or did I tell you to stop?

Just curious why you think it's o.k. for you and not for me.

I say that it is not your forum but if the powers to be want me to not discuss Canadian politics, I will respect their wishes.

That is an awfully sexist article.

But thanks for sharing. It's very interesting.

Seems to me that the Canadian honeymoon is over.

From the link.

It is also indicative of a sexist double standard that casts people (read: women) who take an interest in the way they dress as grossly superficial and morally suspect. “We want to hear about the real issues, not this fluff!”

Ouch!!!

But you knew you were misleading the board by pretending to be an all-knowing American posting in American poilitics., That does not establish much faith or trust in your posts, so maybe that is why is was done in secret to spare you the humiliation of being exposed.

Hey, you initiated the turn of events by this post. You should think before you post.

You have a thing about Harper even though you don't have a dog in the hunt so to speak.
